Acura MSR Achieves First And Third Positions In Qualifying For Sahlen's Six Hours Of The Glen
Renger van der Zande has secured the pole position for the #93 Acura ARX-06 at the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen IMSA race. This marks his second consecutive pole in 2025, continuing a strong performance streak. Colin Braun will start from the second row, having achieved the third-fastest time in the #60 Acura ARX-06. Both drivers are aiming to replicate past successes at Watkins Glen International.
Van der Zande's impressive lap time of 1:31.558 made him one of only two drivers to break into the 1:31 range. Meanwhile, Braun clocked a competitive 1:32.167, positioning both Acuras well for the race. The team is striving for Acura's seventh victory at this track and hopes to repeat their 2022 1-2 finish.
The #93 car will see van der Zande joined by Nick Yelloly and Kaku Ohta, both seasoned racers with a history of success at this event. Yelloly recently won the six-hour race in 2023, adding to his accolades. Ohta, a development driver for Honda Racing Corporation, is eager to contribute to Acura's legacy at Watkins Glen.
In contrast, Braun and Tom Blomqvist will share driving duties in the #60 car. They previously shared a podium as teammates in 2023, finishing third. This year, they aim for victory when the checkered flag falls on Sunday evening.
The qualifying results saw Renger van der Zande take first place in the #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian Acura ARX-06. His co-drivers are Nick Yelloly and Kaku Ohta. Colin Braun qualified third in the #60 car alongside co-driver Tom Blomqvist.
Van der Zande expressed his excitement about securing pole position: "Pole position at Watkins Glen! It's always nice to be at the front of the grid, but tomorrow is a six-hour race and we have a long way to go with Nick and Kaku as my teammates."
Braun shared his thoughts on their performance improvements: "Overall the Acura felt really good. It was probably the best car we've had all weekend... I feel like if we could redo it again we could find a little bit of performance in it."
