Maserati MSG Racing Achieves Strong Fourth Place At London E-Prix Despite Challenges
The London E-Prix presented a challenging yet rewarding experience for Maserati MSG Racing. Stoffel Vandoorne showcased an impressive performance, securing fourth place in the race. Unfortunately, Jake Hughes faced early setbacks due to a collision that ended his race prematurely. Despite these mixed outcomes, the team remained optimistic about their strong qualifying results and aimed to finish the season on a high note.
Both drivers excelled in qualifying, advancing to the duels with commendable lap times. Vandoorne and Hughes started seventh and eighth on the grid, respectively. The race strategy focused on optimising Attack Modes and Pit Boosts. Vandoorne's strategic timing allowed him to maintain a strong position among early stoppers, ultimately securing fourth place.
Hughes' race was cut short by an unfortunate incident on the first lap. He was pushed into the barriers at the London ExCeL circuit, damaging his car's suspension. This left Vandoorne as the team's sole contender for points. His calculated approach ensured he held off competitors like Andretti’s Jake Dennis, despite losing some advantage during a late safety car period.
Cyril Blais, Team Principal of Maserati MSG Racing, expressed satisfaction with Vandoorne's execution of the race plan. "On one side, we’re very happy with Stoffel," he stated. However, Blais acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by Hughes due to persistent bad luck this season. The team remains hopeful for better outcomes in future races.
Maria Conti from Maserati Corse highlighted the significance of performing well in London. She noted that every point gained is crucial for team morale and standings. "London is always an intense stage," Conti remarked, emphasising their determination to excel in the final round of Season 11.
