Georgia Fox Steps Down As Chair Of Women On The Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) After Nearly A Decade Of Service
Georgia Fox is stepping down as Chair of Women on the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) after nearly ten years in the role. WOMAC, founded in 1979, is a group of female volunteers from the automotive industry dedicated to supporting cancer-related projects. These initiatives aim to find better treatments and improve the lives of those affected by cancer.
Reflecting on her tenure, Georgia shared: "It was an honour to become a Patron of WOMAC back in 1988, and an even greater privilege to join the Committee in 2015. I was incredibly proud to be announced as Chair in 2016, taking over from the wonderful Janet Wilkinson, whose commitment and leadership during her 12-year service was truly inspiring."

Under Georgia's leadership, WOMAC supported 14 cancer charities, with plans for two more in 2025. The organisation raised nearly £200,000 during her time as Chair. This success highlights the dedication and generosity of everyone involved with WOMAC.
The upcoming fundraiser will take place at the Kia Oval on 17 June. This event aims to gather automotive industry members to raise funds for BRIGHT Cancer Care and Skcin. Guests will enjoy stunning views from the Corinthian Roof Terrace while networking over food and drinks.
Georgia reminisced about her early days with WOMAC: "Looking back through my old notes as a Patron has brought back a wave of emotions, moments of pride and sorrow. I’m reminded of the early years when we made donations in memory of dear friends we’d lost to cancer including Carol Frater and Russell Bulgin."
She recalled funding two Marie Curie nurses and a garden at The Royal Marsden in memory of Lynda Shewan. Georgia also mentioned supporting Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of Jon Morgan, highlighting WOMAC's impact on smaller charities.
Acknowledging Supporters and Volunteers
Georgia expressed gratitude towards the WOMAC Committee: "None of this would have been possible without the incredible WOMAC Committee. Their dedication and energy make our events not just successful, but truly meaningful." She plans to remain involved as a Patron after stepping down as Chair.
Georgia will continue her role until June's end, with her successor yet to be announced. Her journey with WOMAC has been deeply meaningful, thanks to supporters who have stood by her side throughout these years.
