Skoda Volkswagen India Crosses 2 Million Vehicles Produced

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, the Indian arm of the Volkswagen Group, has crossed two million vehicles produced across its manufacturing operations, marking a key milestone for the Group's 25-year presence in the country. The company confirmed the achievement follows a period of strong demand across its mass-market and premium brands.

The milestone includes more than 500,000 units manufactured on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which was developed in India. This platform underpins the Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, Kylaq and Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. The last 500,000 units were produced within three and a half years, indicating sustained market traction.

Skoda Auto India recorded its strongest January-October performance in 2025 with 61,607 units, more than doubling year-on-year. Volkswagen India registered its highest monthly sales for the Virtus during the Diwali period, with the sedan now holding more than 40 per cent share in its premium segment after 40 months.

Porsche India has added more than 4,400 customers in six years and expanded to thirteen sales points nationwide. Audi reported five per cent growth in its Approved: plus used-car programme between January and September, while adding over 6,500 EV charging points under Phase II of the Charge My Audi network.

Lamborghini posted its best annual performance in 2024 with 113 deliveries, a ten per cent rise over the previous year. The Indian debut of the Temerario followed the Revuelto and Urus SE, completing the brand's hybrid transition.

Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, said, "Every milestone we achieve in India reflects our strong belief in the country's potential - not just as a market but as a driving force in the future of mobility. The 2-million mark is the outcome of consistent investment in people, technology and local capability. It also speaks to the exceptional trust Indian customers place in our six brands.

Indian buyers are among the most informed and discerning in the world. They evaluate every strength and every limitation before choosing a Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini or Bentley, and their confidence strengthens our resolve. This achievement highlights how closely we listen to our customers and how their evolving expectations shape the products we design and build here, with the same quality, precision and trust that define the Group worldwide."

Exports continue to be a major contributor, with more than 700,000 vehicles shipped to markets across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. This export performance positions India as an important global supply base within the VW Group's network.

The VW Group operates manufacturing facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The Pune plant was developed with an investment of nearly €600 million to support higher localisation and output. Both plants anchor the VW Group's ability to manufacture for Indian and export markets across multiple brands.
