Skoda Sells 30,000 Kylak SUVs Under A Year: Eyes Further Growth
Skoda has achieved a major milestone with the Kylaq, selling 30,000 units since its launch in late 2024. Between January and August 2025, the company recorded total sales of 46,000 cars, with the Kylaq contributing a remarkable 65% to its overall volumes.
As such, the Skoda Kylaq has become the brand's primary growth driver and marked Skoda's much-anticipated return to the sub-Rs 10 lakh segment. This category had remained untouched by the Czech automaker since the discontinuation of the Fabia in the early 2010s.
By re-entering this competitive space, Skoda managed to connect with a wider audience, many of whom had previously never considered the brand when shopping for smaller cars.
Expanding The Lineup
The Kylaq's success has already prompted Skoda to introduce a special edition of the compact SUV, further strengthening its appeal. The company is also exploring the possibility of adding a CNG-powered version to the lineup, although launch timelines have not been confirmed yet. Such additions could help the Kylaq attract an even broader customer base, particularly those looking for cost-efficient ownership.
Growth Beyond Metros
Skoda's growth story isn't limited to the big cities. The brand has been witnessing strong traction in tier-2 and tier-3 regions, where aspirations for premium yet affordable vehicles are on the rise. To cater to this demand, Skoda has expanded its network to 310 touchpoints across India, with nearly 65 per cent of new outlets established in these emerging markets.
