Skoda Kylaq Excels With 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Ratings: All Details Here
The Skoda Kylaq has outperformed its competitors in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) crash tests. It achieved a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection. The Kylaq scored 30.88 out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 in child occupant protection (COP), making it the top-performing internal combustion engine (ICE) compact SUV in these tests.
Skoda Kylaq Adult Occupant Protection
In terms of adult safety, the Skoda Kylaq scored an impressive 30.88 points out of a possible 32. During the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it achieved 15.04 out of 16 points. The driver's head, neck, and right leg were well protected, while chest protection was adequate. For the front passenger, all critical areas including head, neck, chest, and legs received good protection ratings.

The side movable deformable barrier test resulted in a score of 15.84 out of 16 for the Kylaq. This indicates excellent protection for the head and lower back areas, with an adequate rating for the upper back. Additionally, it earned a "good" rating in the side pole impact test.
Child Occupant Protection Ratings
For child safety, the Kylaq secured 45 out of 49 points. It achieved full marks in both the dynamic test (24/24) and CRS installation assessment (12/12). The vehicle assessment score was 9 out of 13. Tests were conducted using rearward-facing child seats for both an 18-month-old and a three-year-old dummy.
Safety Features Of Skoda Kylaq
The Skoda Kylaq comes standard with six airbags and three-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers. It also includes Electronic Stability Control and ISOFIX anchors for rear outboard seats. The vehicle complies with AIS-100 pedestrian protection norms but lacks ADAS technology across all trims, unlike some higher variants of Mahindra XUV 3XO.
BNCAP tested the top-spec Kylaq Prestige variant equipped with a manual gearbox; however, these ratings apply to all variants including Classic, Signature, and Signature+. Except for the entry-level Classic trim, other versions offer an automatic transmission option.
The Skoda Kylaq's outstanding performance in BNCAP crash tests highlights its commitment to safety standards. By achieving high scores in both adult and child occupant protection categories, it sets a benchmark among ICE-powered compact SUVs in India.
