Škoda Auto Forms Two-Year Partnership With UCI For Mountain Bike And Gravel World Championships

Škoda Auto has entered a two-year partnership with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the global cycling authority. This collaboration covers the UCI World Championships for mountain biking and gravel racing. These events are highly popular, drawing over 25 million TV viewers annually. This year, they will be hosted in Switzerland and the Netherlands.

The UCI Mountain Bike World Championships will take place from 30 August to 14 September 2025 in Valais, Switzerland. This event will feature nearly all mountain bike formats over two weeks. Competitions include Olympic cross-country, team relay, and downhill events, among others. A total of 27 UCI World Champion titles will be awarded.

Škoda Auto Partners with UCI for Championships

Škoda's partnership with UCI aims to boost its brand visibility among adventure enthusiasts. The company seeks to connect with customers who value versatility and an active lifestyle. Škoda's history is deeply linked to cycling, as it began producing bicycles 130 years ago.

This year’s UCI Gravel World Championships are set for October 2025 in South Limburg, Netherlands. Gravel racing has gained popularity recently, attracting both amateur and professional cyclists. The discipline involves bikes designed for mixed surfaces like gravel roads and dirt trails.

Škoda Auto celebrates its 130th anniversary this year. Founded by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement in Mladá Boleslav in 1895, the company started by making bicycles. Over the past two decades, Škoda has been a major supporter of professional cycling events worldwide.

The Czech carmaker continues to support elite races like the Tour de France through its extended partnership with A.S.O., which lasts until 2028. Škoda also backs other prestigious races such as La Vuelta Ciclista a España and La Flèche Wallonne.

Showcasing Electrified Models at Events

During the UCI Championship events, Škoda will provide dedicated areas for fans to explore their electrified vehicle range. This includes all-electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV). Martin Jahn from Škoda Auto stated that cycling is integral to their brand identity.

"At Škoda Auto, cycling has been part of our DNA ever since our founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement established the company 130 years ago," said Martin Jahn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Škoda Auto.

Škoda's Global Reach and Future Goals

Škoda Auto is navigating the new decade with its Next Level Strategy. The company aims to become one of Europe's top five best-selling brands by expanding its entry-level segments and adding more electric models. In 2024, Škoda delivered over 926,000 vehicles globally.

The company operates three sites in the Czech Republic and additional facilities in China, Slovakia, India, and Ukraine through partnerships. As part of the Volkswagen Group for three decades, Škoda contributes components like MEB battery systems used across various group brands.

Employing around 40,000 people worldwide, Škoda is active in approximately 100 markets. It leverages growth opportunities in regions such as India, North Africa, Vietnam, and ASEAN countries while maintaining a diverse product lineup including models like Fabia and Octavia.
