Škoda Becomes First European Car Brand To Offer Real-Time Vehicle Availability Via Amazon Showroom
Škoda has launched a groundbreaking initiative by introducing an Amazon car showroom, marking a first for European automotive brands. This platform allows UK customers to explore the entire Škoda range, check local availability, and even book test drives. The process is designed to be seamless, enabling potential buyers to gather all necessary information online before visiting a dealership for the final purchase.
Škoda's collaboration with Amazon aims to enhance customer convenience while maintaining the importance of in-person dealership visits. A recent survey by Škoda UK revealed that 47% of Brits appreciate the ease of online research when buying cars. However, 82% still prefer completing their purchase at a dealership due to expert advice and personal interaction.
The new showroom offers a comprehensive digital experience, showcasing models like the Fabia supermini and Kodiaq SUV. Customers can also explore electric options such as the Elroq and Enyaq. This initiative reflects changing consumer habits, where digital convenience is valued alongside traditional dealership support.
Matthew Bowden, Director of Škoda UK, stated: "Online browsing and research are part of everyday life, which is why we’re so excited to launch the Škoda showroom at Amazon. It gives prospective customers more opportunities to find their next car and see where it’s available, all from the comfort of their home."
The survey highlighted that 78% of respondents consider test drives essential before purchasing a car. Additionally, 47% value expert knowledge, while 36% appreciate product demonstrations. These insights underline the necessity for both digital exploration and physical reassurance in car buying.
Škoda's strategy aligns with these preferences by offering a 'click to drive' experience. Customers can browse real-time stock availability online and then visit a retailer to finalise their purchase within two to four weeks.
Škoda's Global Ambitions
Škoda Auto aims to be among Europe's top five best-selling brands by 2030 through its Next Level – Škoda Strategy 2030. The company plans to expand its entry-level offerings and e-models while leveraging growth markets like India and North Africa.
In 2024, Škoda delivered over 926,000 vehicles worldwide. The brand operates in around 100 markets and employs approximately 40,000 people globally. As part of the Volkswagen Group for three decades, Škoda contributes significantly to joint growth efforts within the Brand Group CORE.
The new Amazon showroom is now live at amazon.co.uk/skoda. Customers can start their journey on this platform or via the Amazon app on mobile devices. After comparing features and selecting their ideal model, they connect with preferred retailers for finance arrangements and collection dates.
This innovative approach by Škoda combines digital convenience with trusted dealership support, catering to modern consumer needs while preserving traditional buying experiences.
