Silver Stars From Stuttgart Shine At ModaMiami: A Celebration Of Classic Mercedes-Benz Cars
Mercedes-Benz recently showcased its classic car collection at ModaMiami, held near the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. The event highlighted the brand's rich motorsport history, particularly the successful year of 1955. This year marked Mercedes-Benz's dominance in racing, with two world championships celebrated. The event featured iconic models like the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR and the SLR McLaren "Stirling Moss" (Z 199).
The prestigious ModaMiami event is renowned for its focus on classic cars and luxury. It successfully draws attention to the east coast within North America's classic car scene. Among the highlights were the "Moda Classic" drive led by the SLR McLaren "Stirling Moss" and a Concours d'Elegance showcasing rare pre-war models and modern hypercars.
Mercedes-Benz Classic commemorated its remarkable motorsport achievements at Miami's exclusive "The Concours Club" racetrack. In 1955, Juan Manuel Fangio secured his second consecutive Formula 1 title with the Silver Arrow W 196 R. Additionally, the brand won the Sports Car World Championship with the 300 SLR racing sports car (W 196 S).
The auction of a W 196 R Silver Arrow further underscored Mercedes-Benz's legacy. Held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, this auction saw a record price of 51.155 million euros for this Grand Prix racing car. This sale made it the most valuable Grand Prix racing car ever sold.
At ModaMiami, Mercedes-Benz displayed various classics and young classics that captivated visitors. These included a Maybach S 650 Cabriolet from 2017 and an SL 500 "Silver Arrow Edition" (R 129) from 2002. The E 60 AMG (210 series) from 1997 was also present, built by AMG and enhanced by American partner RENNtech.
Mercedes-Benz emphasised its tradition of exclusivity through MANUFAKTUR, offering bespoke personalisation options for discerning customers. This program provides unique equipment choices for select models across Mercedes-Benz brands, allowing for a customised automotive experience.

ModaMiami successfully combines automotive culture with auctions, culinary experiences, and live performances. Its debut in 2024 attracted a diverse group of enthusiasts, establishing itself as a prominent event in the classic car calendar.
The presentation of iconic vehicles like the Mercedes-AMG G 63 in MANUFAKTUR Hyper Blue Magno demonstrated this commitment to individuality. Similarly, a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 featuring MANUFAKTUR Tartufo Brown/Black Nappa Leather interior was showcased.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR "Uhlenhaut Coupé" remains unmatched as the world's most valuable automobile at an impressive value of 135 million euros. This underscores Mercedes-Benz's enduring appeal among collectors worldwide.
