Seven Honda And Acura Models Earn Top Safety Ratings From IIHS For 2025
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recognised several 2025 models from Honda and Acura for their safety features. The Honda Civic Hatchback, Accord, and HR-V have been awarded the TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating. Meanwhile, the Civic Sedan and Pilot, along with the Acura Integra and MDX, have received the TOP SAFETY PICK award.
All seven vehicles achieved a top GOOD score in the IIHS's small overlap front crash test and updated side crash test. These tests involve 82% more crash energy than previous versions. This recognition highlights Honda's commitment to safety through advanced engineering and technology.
Honda Sensing® and AcuraWatch™ are standard on all new models from these brands. These systems include features like Collision Mitigation Braking System™ with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Over 9.5 million vehicles on U.S. roads now feature these technologies.
The Honda Civic, Accord, HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, Acura Integra, and MDX benefit from the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This design helps protect occupants in various frontal collisions. It also includes advanced restraint systems such as pretensioning seatbelts and multiple airbags.
Honda aims to eliminate fatalities from traffic collisions involving its vehicles by 2050. This goal extends beyond technology to include driver awareness and behaviour modification efforts. The company collaborates with government, industry, and community partners to enhance traffic safety.
Honda operates sophisticated crash-test facilities in Ohio and Japan. These facilities contribute to advancements in crashworthiness and pedestrian safety. The company's passive safety features include next-generation airbag technology designed for high collision protection.
