Sérgio Sette Câmara Joins Nissan Formula E Team For Berlin E-Prix Race
Sérgio Sette Câmara, Nissan Formula E Team's reserve and simulator driver, will make his debut race appearance for the team at the Berlin E-Prix on 12-13 July. He steps in for Norman Nato, who is committed to the World Endurance Championship. Sette Câmara has participated in 66 Formula E races since 2020. This event marks his first official race with Nissan, as they currently lead the Manufacturers' Standings.
Sette Câmara expressed excitement about racing for Nissan in Berlin. "I’m excited to race for the Nissan Formula E Team in Berlin. It’s a good opportunity for me to step into one of the leading cars in the championship, something I haven’t experienced before in this series, and I feel ready to give my all," he stated. He looks forward to collaborating with Oliver Rowland and learning from his performances this season.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, commented on Sette Câmara's involvement: "It’s a shame Norman can’t be with us in Berlin, but we’re delighted to have Sérgio stepping in. Sérgio’s extensive experience in Formula E and his time with the team this season make him the best-placed driver to step in and take on this challenge."
Nissan entered Formula E during Season 5 (2018/19), becoming Japan's first manufacturer in the series. In Season 7 (2020/21), they confirmed their long-term participation through the GEN3 era until Season 12 (2025/26). In April 2022, Nissan acquired e.dams, taking full control of its involvement in the championship.
Nissan announced its long-term commitment to Formula E on 28th March 2024, ahead of Tokyo's inaugural E-Prix. They became the first manufacturer to sign up for GEN4 era participation until 2030, aligning with their Ambition 2030 electrification goals.
Formula E's Environmental Impact
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship was certified as having a net zero carbon footprint from its inception in 2020. The series invests in climate-protecting projects across race markets to offset emissions from each season. All cars are powered by electricity, promoting sustainable mobility and reducing air pollution.
Nissan aims to electrify all new vehicle offerings by early 2030s in key markets as part of its carbon neutrality goal by 2050. The company leverages knowledge transfer between racetrack and road to enhance electric vehicles for customers.
Sette Câmara faces several new challenges at Berlin's race, including adapting to pit-boosts and an all-wheel-drive system introduced for GEN3 EVO cars. He plans extensive simulator practice to prepare thoroughly for these elements.
