Samantha Tan Extends Role As BMW M Motorsport Global Ambassador For Upcoming Racing Seasons
BMW of North America, LLC has announced that Samantha Tan will continue as a BMW M Motorsport Global Ambassador for 2025 and 2026. The 27-year-old Asian-Canadian driver is also the co-owner of Samantha Tan (ST) Racing. This year, she competes in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge with a BMW M4 GT3 in the GTDX class, achieving two wins and four podiums so far.
Samantha Tan currently ranks fourth in the overall GTDX championship standings and leads the Bronze cup. She expressed her excitement about continuing her role, stating, "I am incredibly honored to continue representing BMW M Motorsport as their Global Ambassador for 2025 and 2026." She highlighted BMW's significant impact on her career and looks forward to new challenges.
In addition to her current racing commitments, Samantha will debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe this June. She will race a BMW M4 GT3 EVO for BMW Team WRT at the Road to Le Mans. This event marks an important step toward her dream of competing at Le Mans. Samantha will team up with Gustav Bergstroem for two 60-minute races during this iconic event.
Samantha Tan (ST) Racing was founded in 2017 with a focus on passion and excellence. The team achieved back-to-back championships in the Pirelli World Challenge and Pirelli GT4 America series in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, they won the 24H Series overall championship during their first overseas season.
ST Racing moved up to the GT3 class in 2022, making history by securing the first-ever overall win for BMW's new M4 GT3 at the 12H Mugello. They also competed in the legendary 24 Hours of Spa. In recent years, they have continued their success with victories at GTWC Road America and GTWC 3H Barcelona.
BMW Group's Presence in the U.S.
Established over five decades ago, BMW of North America supports sales, marketing, and distribution across the U.S. The company expanded its operations by founding BMW Group Financial Services NA in 1993 and starting vehicle assembly in South Carolina a year later. Today, it operates nearly 30 locations across 12 states.
The Spartanburg plant is BMW's largest production facility globally, assembling more than 1,500 vehicles daily. It serves as a hub for producing Sports Activity Vehicles like X3 through XM models. Since its inception in 1994, nearly seven million vehicles have been assembled there.
Economic Impact
The company's extensive network includes numerous retailers across various brands such as MINI and Rolls-Royce. These activities support over 120,000 jobs nationwide while contributing more than $43 billion annually to the U.S. economy.
