Aurus Senat: The Armoured Limousine Protecting President Vladimir Putin In India

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in India for a state visit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by his custom-built, armoured Aurus Senat limousine, crafted specifically for top officials and heads of state. Aurus Motors designed the Limousine, which is part of the Kortezh project.

Russia's state-backed Aurus Motors and the NAMI Institute co-developed this vehicle, providing the president with military grade security. It was inducted into the president's convoy in 2018 and has since been used by the president for both domestic and international visits. It was the same car in which PM Narendra Modi spent 45 minutes talking with President Putin in China.

The Limousine is built on a brand-new Unified Modular Platform with an upright design, featuring a large chrome grille identical to that of a Rolls-Royce car. This platform's key principle is to provide maximum safety to the passengers.

It offers VR8 and VR10 level ballistic protection, comparable to that of an armoured military vehicle. It is also equipped with 20-inch bulletproof wheels, a fire and explosion-proof fuel tank, fire extinguishing and air filtering systems to protect against chemicals, external communication systems and an emergency exit.

Additionally, it gives protection against missile and drone strikes, heavy blasts, high-calibre and armour-piercing bullets. It can also stay afloat in water and can run at high speed even with damaged tyres. It is often referred to as 'Fortress on Wheels'.

It has a 4.4-litre, V8 Hybrid Turbo-Petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 598hp and 880 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid electric motor produces 62 hp of power, and it's an AWD car. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds and reach a top speed of 160 km/h.

On the inside, it is equipped with world-class comfort and luxury features, including heated and ventilated massage seats, advanced infotainment systems, premium leather upholstery and wooden trims for a luxury feel.

This vehicle is also sold to many other global leaders, and it costs around 5.6 crore (in Indian rupees). Many leaders around the world use specially made armoured vehicles to travel in and around their country. Leaders like King Charles 3 of the UK, President Trump of the United States, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India use specially made vehicles.
