Renault Twingo E-Tech Revealed, Will They Bring To India?

Renault has launched its next-generation electric car, the Twingo E-Tech, in Paris. The Renault Twingo was one of the most popular hatchbacks across Europe, and the first car was launched back in 1992. Now, it is all set to go electric with the new Twingo E-Tech.

Renault Twingo E-Tech Revealed

The design looks similar to the original Twingo, which has the same curvy body shape. It resembles the old Nissan Micra, which is actually a sibling of the Renault Twingo. It has the same arch-shaped LED DRLs with headlamps at the front. The bonnet gets the new Renault 3D emblem and a smile-shaped grille. At the rear, there are half-moon-shaped tail lamps with fins at the top. There is also a playful Twingo badge at the back.

Renault Twingo Interior

The interior looks more spacious and also gets a rear sliding seat that can move by 17cm for more leg space. The dashboard also looks funky with a 7-inch driver display and a 10-inch touch-screen infotainment system. It gets features like Smartphone connectivity, Renault's OpenR link, built-in Google features like Maps, Google Assistant voice control, and access to 100+ apps via the Google store.

The TWingo E-Tech is built on Renault's AmpR small platform, and the powertrain consists of an 81 bhp electric motor and a 27.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. It can go from 0 to 100 in just 12.1 seconds and can go up to a top speed of 130 kmph.

Renault Twingo Charge

The company claims to have a maximum range of 163 km, while the actual range could be around 150km per full charge. It also gets a 50 kW DC fast charger that can go from 10 to 80% in just 30 minutes. There is also an 11 kW AC bi-directional system that supports V2L (Vehicle to load) and V2G (Vehicle to grid) functions.

Safety features include six standard airbags, driver monitoring system, adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go feature, Lane keeping assist, Rear cross traffic alert, Automatic emergency braking, hands-free parking (first-in segment), and safe exit alert.

Renault is yet to confirm its India availability, but their official India site has posted a tweet about this Twingo E-Tech. So we can expect the brand to bring this car to India next year or in 2027. It is also more likely to be priced as an affordable electric car to compete against small ICE hatchbacks.
