Renault Kiger Facelift Teased With New Updates Ahead Of Launch On August 24

Ahead of its upcoming launch on August 24, Renault India has unveiled a sneak peek into the revamped Kiger compact SUV, marking it as the latest addition under the automaker's Rethink brand transformation initiative. This facelift follows the recent update of the Triber and is set to feature updates to both its exterior and interior, although it appears the engine options will remain unchanged.

The teaser for the updated Kiger has revealed several noteworthy elements, including a vibrant new green shade, updated graphics on the C pillar, and a redesigned reverse light section that now sports a smoked finish. This sneak peek builds on the spotted test vehicles, hinting at subtle design tweaks without any major alterations to the body.

Renault Kiger Facelift Teased for Launch

Concerning the exterior revamp, the Kiger is expected to retain its current alloy wheel dimensions and patterns, as suggested by the spy photos circulating so far. However, enthusiasts can anticipate entirely new fog lamps and revamped bumpersand Renault's new diamond emblem.

Regarding the interior and safety enhancements, specifics remain sparse. Yet, similar to updates seen in its counterpart, the Nissan Magnite, the Kiger is likely to receive subtle dashboard modifications, improved seat and door trim upholstery, and the integration of soft-touch materials. In alignment with the recently updated Triber, an enhancement in safety features, including the standardization of 6 airbags, is also expected.

Under the hood, the Kiger's current engine lineup, featuring a 72hp, 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and a 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, is anticipated to carry over. Both engines come with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, with an AMT option available for the naturally aspirated engine and a CVT automatic for the turbo-petrol variant. Additionally, the option for a CNG retrofitment is likely to remain for those looking for alternative fuel options.

The Kiger shares its foundations with the Nissan Magnite, which itself received a facelift recently. It competes in a crowded segment that includes contenders like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Skoda Kylaq. This strategic update from Renault aims to bolster its position within the fiercely competitive compact sub 4-metre SUV segment, ensuring the Kiger remains a viable option for consumers.

DriveSpark Thinks

With its refreshed design, potential interior upgrades, and unchanged powertrain options, the Kiger is set to get a significant update as Renault continues its reinvention in India. We don't expect, the Kiger to get a big price hike as this is a mid-life refresh rather than a total reinvention of the SUV.
