Renault Captur And Symbioz Receive Enhanced Hybrid Powertrains For The 2026 Model Year
Renault has introduced updates for its 2026 SUV models, featuring a more robust full hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain for the Captur and Symbioz. This upgrade includes a larger 1.8-litre petrol engine and a 1.4 kWh battery, enhancing performance and efficiency. The new powertrain improves drivability, reaching 62 mph faster than before, while reducing emissions to just 97 g/km of CO2.
The Captur's full hybrid E-Tech 160 starts at £25,195, while the Symbioz version is available from £29,795. Additionally, the Symbioz now offers a mild hybrid 140 petrol engine with a manual transmission, priced from £27,395. This new engine option provides an entry-level model with improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
Renault's full hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain also benefits from transmission enhancements that improve responsiveness and efficiency. The updated transmission includes smoother shifting and an additional mode for motorway driving, reducing noise levels. A new e-shifter is standard across all trim levels.
The Captur range now includes advanced safety technologies as standard on all trims. These features include an electric parking brake with auto-hold and adaptive cruise control with speed limiter on mid-range techno trims and above. The top-tier esprit Alpine trim adds lane centering, blind spot recognition, rear detection with emergency lane-keeping assist, and rear cross traffic alert.
For those interested in towing capabilities, the new powertrain increases towing capacity from 750kg to 1,000kg. The larger battery allows more opportunities for electric-only driving, providing a quieter experience while saving fuel.
