Here's How Many Stars New Renault Bigster Scored From Euro NCAP

In recent evaluations by the Euro NCAP, the Renault Bigster (Dacia Bigster), set to arrive in India, secured a three-star safety rating. This assessment highlighted the vehicle's performance in protecting adult and child occupants, scoring 69 per cent and 85 per cent, respectively.

Moreover, the SUV demonstrated a 60 per cent score for vulnerable road users and a 57 per cent rating in the safety assist category. These results offer a comprehensive view of the Bigster's capabilities in ensuring passenger and pedestrian safety under various circumstances.

The vehicle tested was a left-hand drive model equipped with a HEV powertrain, with the results being applicable across all Dacia Bigster models currently available for sale. The Dacia Bigster's design and safety features played a significant role in its evaluation, showcasing the vehicle's commitment to occupant security.

Among the notable safety features are airbags, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, seatbelt reminders, autonomous emergency braking, speed assistance, lane assist system, and driver attention warnings, illustrating a broad approach to safety encompassing both active and passive elements.

During the crash tests, the Bigster's passenger compartment remained intact in frontal offset collisions, indicating reliable protection for occupants. The tests also showed adequate safeguarding for the knees and femurs of both the driver and the front passenger, suggesting a similar level of protection could be expected for occupants of varying sizes and seating positions. Moreover, the vehicle demonstrated a relatively low level of aggressiveness towards other vehicles in a frontal collision, further emphasizing its safety design.

The Bigster excelled in the side barrier and side pole impact tests, offering good protection to all critical body areas of the adult occupants and achieving maximum points. However, the absence of a mechanism to mitigate head-to-head contact between occupants led to a poor rating in far-side protection. Despite this, the SUV managed to provide substantial protection for all critical body parts of child dummies in these tests, once again scoring maximum points.

In related developments, Renault Group has taken a significant step by acquiring Nissan Motor Corp's 51 per cent stake in Renault-Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL). This move grants Renault full control over the alliance's production unit in India, marking a pivotal moment in the partnership's history.

Bloomberg reported that this acquisition is part of broader efforts by the automakers to ease their long-standing alliance, allowing for reduced cross-ownership amidst Nissan's ongoing financial challenges. Renault, maintaining a 36 per cent stake in Nissan, plans to further this collaboration by developing a compact electric vehicle for Nissan starting the next year.

Moreover, Renault India is enhancing its customer engagement through a nationwide summer camp running from May 19 to May 25, 2025. This initiative offers Renault India customers significant savings on parts, labor costs, and various services, alongside special discounts on engine oil maintenance, extended warranties, and roadside assistance programs.

Additional benefits include unique tyre offers, complimentary gifts, and up to 50 per cent off on selected accessories. Customers using the MY Renault app also enjoy an extra five per cent discount on select items, further enriching their experience with the brand.
