Range Rover SV Black Unveiled: Stealthy 606bhp Luxury Barge

The Range Rover is introducing a new variant to its lineup, the SV Black edition, noted for its dark aesthetic and impressive performance capabilities. This SV Black edition is not the brand's initial foray into unique versions of the SV, with previous models including the Burford and Lansdowne Editions.

Although the price currently remains undisclosed, the SV Black is set to premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which starts this Thursday alongside the new Range Rover Sport SV Black.

Featuring a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine sourced from BMW's M division, the SV Black boasts an impressive 606bhp. This power is managed by an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 4.4 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 260kmph. The 'SV' emblem indicates a level of power and luxury that's become synonymous with Range Rover's special variants.

A notable first for the Range Rover SV Black is its incorporation of the latest Body-And-Soul-Seat (BASS) technology, enhancing the in-vehicle audio experience. This innovative feature delivers haptic feedback not only through the seats but also via the floor mats, enabling occupants to 'feel' the music, thus providing a unique and immersive auditory experience.

Externally, the SV Black maintains a consistent dark theme, available exclusively in Narvik Gloss Black. This monochromatic scheme extends to its 23-inch alloy wheels, calipers, grille, and even the Range Rover wheel script, all finished in gloss black. The inclusion of Gloss Black brake calipers with darker branding introduces a new subtle design element to the vehicle's exterior.

The interior of the SV Black mirrors the exterior's dark theme, with ebony leather upholstery adorned with black 'Range Rover' logos. The cabin also features unique diagonal stitching on the seats, black birch wood veneer, and a satin-black ceramic finish on the gearshift located on the centre console, all contributing to the SUV's luxurious feel.

Scheduled to hit the market later this year, the SV Black will be available in a standard wheelbase, five-seat configuration, with options for either four or five-seat arrangements in the long-wheelbase version. This flexibility ensures that the SV Black can cater to a range of customer preferences, accommodating those seeking either enhanced space or performance.

DriveSpark Thinks!

The Range Rover SV Black edition emerges as a compelling addition to the luxury SUV market, blending high performance with distinctive styling. Its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed marks an exciting chapter for Range Rover enthusiasts, offering a vehicle that promises not only superior driving dynamics but also an unmatched stealthy aesthetic appeal.
