Porsche And RM Sotheby’s Auction Of Rare 911 S/T Raises $1 Million For American Red Cross Relief Efforts

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) and RM Sotheby’s have successfully auctioned a rare 911 S/T for one million dollars. The entire amount will aid the American Red Cross in its disaster relief efforts, including those for the California wildfires and recent flooding in the South. The anonymous bidder is a known supporter of PCNA, having previously purchased the 911 Sally Special for charity.

The American Red Cross responds to over 65,000 disasters annually across the United States. These range from single-family home fires to severe weather events impacting entire communities. Recently, their efforts have been concentrated in California, where they have provided over 14,500 overnight stays and distributed more than 102,000 relief supplies to those affected by the fires.

Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross, expressed gratitude for the partnership with Porsche Cars North America and RM Sotheby’s. "Thanks to the Porsche Cars North America and RM Sotheby’s auction, the Red Cross is able to support families impacted by disasters big and small across the country," she stated. This collaboration helps provide essential aid during critical times.

The auctioned vehicle is a special edition 911 S/T painted in Shore Blue Metallic with a Heritage Design Package. It is number 1,919 out of 1,963 vehicles produced to commemorate the Porsche 911's 60th anniversary. Notably, it is the only one in the United States not yet assigned to a customer.

Many individuals associated with Porsche contributed to this charitable event. Actor Orlando Bloom helped raise awareness about the auction. RM Sotheby’s also played a significant role by waiving their usual fees to ensure maximum proceeds reached the Red Cross.

Generous Contributions

Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, expressed appreciation for the winning bidder's generosity. "On behalf of everyone at PCNA, we are truly grateful to the winning bidder for their generosity," he said. The funds raised will significantly impact the American Red Cross's vital work.

Gord Duff, President of RM Sotheby’s, echoed these sentiments: "It’s deeply gratifying to support the American Red Cross in partnership with Porsche Cars North America." He congratulated the new owner of this unique car and thanked them for supporting communities in need.

The winning bidder will also receive additional items alongside their purchase. These include a limited-edition 911 S/T Porsche Design timepiece and an exclusive owner’s manual pouch signed by Andreas Preuninger, Director of the GT model line.
