Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge 2025 Celebrates Tradition And Inspires Future Technicians
The Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge is an annual event that highlights the dedication and skill involved in restoring classic cars. Since 2020, over 100 previously non-roadworthy classic cars have been revived through this competition. The challenge aims to educate and inspire a new generation of technicians and enthusiasts. Fans can follow the progress of the 2025 challenge on social media using the hashtag #porschechallenge25.
Porsche Centers across the United States are invited to participate in one of three categories: Preservation, Restoration, and Individualization. In the Preservation category, technicians focus on maintaining original components without restoring them to a new condition. This might involve minor paint corrections or refreshing seat covers. Cars must have been driven at least 2,500 miles annually or 70,000 miles since production.

The Restoration category challenges technicians to restore vehicles to near-new condition, adhering closely to original specifications. Meanwhile, the Individualization category allows for creative modifications under the Porsche Sonderwunsch program while ensuring street legality and using Genuine Parts.
This year marks the fifth iteration of the challenge, with technicians having started their projects last autumn. The event will culminate in October with a National Championship. Entries from Porsche Cars North America's (PCNA) three sales regions—East, South-Central, and West—will be judged by experts from Porsche Club of America and PCNA during summer events open to the public.
Attendees at these events will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite entries in the "People’s Choice" award category. Jonathan Sieber, Senior Manager of Porsche Classic, stated: "This beloved contest presents a unique opportunity for our Porsche Centers to showcase their Classic abilities through their mechanical and creative skills."
Porsche's U.S. Presence
America hosts more classic Porsche vehicles than any other market globally. The restoration work is carried out by Porsche-trained technicians who have access to nearly 85,000 Porsche Classic Genuine Parts. The U.S. headquarters of Porsche Classic is located alongside One Porsche Drive in Atlanta, offering Factory Restoration services for all classic models.
Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), established in 1984, serves as the exclusive U.S. importer of several models including the Porsche 911 and Taycan. Headquartered in Atlanta since 1998, PCNA also operates two Experience Centers in North America—one in Atlanta and another near Los Angeles—featuring driver development tracks and business centers.
Supporting Dealerships
PCNA supports over 200 independently owned dealerships across the U.S., along with four studios and five satellite stores. These dealerships provide parts, service, marketing, and training while ensuring customers receive an experience aligned with Porsche's legacy of performance excellence.
Porsche AG owns PCNA indirectly; its headquarters are based in Stuttgart, Germany. The brand's success is deeply rooted in its racing heritage with over 30,000 motorsport victories recorded so far.
The challenge not only celebrates restoration but also fosters community engagement through public voting opportunities at judging events held nationwide.
