OMODA & JAECOO UK Reports Record Sales Of 1,677 Super Hybrid SUVs In May 2025
OMODA&JAECOO UK has made a significant impact in the UK's new car market, selling 1,677 vehicles equipped with their Super Hybrid System (SHS) in May. This achievement positions JAECOO as a top performer in hybrid sales, just months after its UK debut. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported a 51% increase in plug-in hybrid registrations year-on-year for May, capturing 12% of the UK's new car market.
The success of OMODA&JAECOO is largely due to their innovative SHS, which offers an electric-first driving experience with low emissions and extended range. The JAECOO 7 SHS, available since January, and the newly introduced OMODA 9 SHS are expanding the brand's hybrid SUV lineup. More SHS models are expected later this year as the brand strengthens its presence in the UK.
OMODA&JAECOO's proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS) is designed to provide an electric-first driving experience while maintaining petrol power flexibility. Unlike traditional hybrids, this system ensures the battery never fully depletes, offering consistent electric support and optimising efficiency. It supports fast charging up to 70 kW, depending on the model.
The JAECOO 7 SHS boasts a WLTP-rated range of up to 745 miles, including 56 miles on electric power alone. It achieves a combined fuel economy of 403 mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 23 g/km. This model accounts for about 70% of all JAECOO 7 sales and is priced at £35,065 on-the-road.
The recently launched OMODA 9 SHS enhances this success by offering a luxurious SUV experience with powerful hybrid performance. It delivers up to 93 miles of pure electric range and over 700 miles combined range WLTP. With a combined output of 449 PS and 700 Nm torque, it accelerates from 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds. Priced from £44,990 on-the-road, it represents flagship performance within the brand's growing lineup.
