Ola Källenius Showcases The All-New Electric GLC Ahead Of IAA Motor Show Reveal
At the Mercedes-Benz Technology Center in Sindelfingen, Germany, CEO Ola Källenius is testing the new Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ technology. In a recent YouTube video, Källenius offers an exclusive look at this electric model's future. He challenges the GLC's design, capabilities, and handling through five tests. Previously, he tested the electric CLA and G-Class in Austria and Sweden's scenic landscapes.
The electric GLC will be unveiled at Munich's IAA motor show on September 7, 2025. Källenius stated, "The biggest product launch program in our company's history continues with the all-new GLC. We're not just introducing a new model – we're electrifying our top seller. It will feature a bold new design language, cutting-edge technology, our MB.OS operating system and performance that sparks excitement. The all-new GLC is comfort, dynamics, efficiency and intelligence in perfect harmony and it's ready to be revealed at this year's IAA."
The new GLC sets a benchmark in its segment with AIRMATIC air suspension from the S-Class. This technology enhances ride comfort by absorbing road imperfections. The Agility & Comfort Package includes rear-axle steering with up to 4.5 degrees of steering angle. This ensures stability and agility on both city roads and highways.
Inside, the electric GLC offers more space and comfort than its predecessor. It boasts increased legroom and headroom for passengers due to a longer wheelbase by 3.1 inches compared to the combustion engine model. The trunk provides 20.1 cu ft of space, expanding to 61.4 cu ft when rear seats are folded down.
A key feature of the electric architecture is its 800-volt system that reduces charging times significantly. In just ten minutes, it can charge approximately 260 kilometers (WLTP) of range using DC fast charging over 320 kW. Additionally, a DC converter allows use with 400-volt stations depending on country specifications.
The GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ technology has a towing capacity of up to 5,291 lbs (braked). It supports transporting items like electric bicycles with its 220-lb tongue weight capacity on suitable carriers. ESP trailer stabilization ensures stable handling when towing.
Innovative Design and Digital Experience
Källenius highlights the electric GLC's timeless design inspired by prestige and status as it introduces a new brand face for upcoming vehicles. Inside, Mercedes-Benz's elevated design language creates an immersive experience with features like the MBUX Hyperscreen powered by MB.OS supercomputer for digital elegance.
