North American Premiere Of The 2026 BMW M2 CS And Special Edition 8 Series At Pebble Beach
During Monterey Car Week 2025, BMW will highlight its dedication to high performance, a core aspect of its legacy and future innovations. The eagerly awaited 2026 BMW M2 CS will debut in North America at Legends of the Autobahn, followed by the world premiere of a limited edition 8 Series. Art enthusiasts and motorsport fans can enjoy BMW Art Cars by Andy Warhol and Julie Mehretu at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The Legends of the Autobahn event will take place on August 14th at Pacific Grove Golf Links. Here, the 2026 BMW M2 CS will make its North American debut after setting a record lap time at Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. This model follows the successful formula of previous CS models with increased power, reduced weight, and improved handling.
The M2 CS features a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline-6 engine producing 523 horsepower, which is 50 more than the standard M2. Lightweight materials like carbon fiber reinforced plastic help reduce weight by nearly 100 lbs. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.
On Thursday evening, media representatives will get an exclusive look at a special limited-edition BMW 8 Series. Since its launch in 2018, the second-generation BMW 8 Series has been praised for its performance and design. Initially available as the V8-powered M850i coupe, it expanded to include convertible and Gran Coupe versions.
The details of this special edition will be revealed on August 14th at 10:15 PM Eastern Time. The series has also served as a base for the M8 GTE race car, which competed in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 2018 to 2020.
Celebrating BMW's Motorsport Legacy
From August 13 to August 16, BMW will celebrate half a century of the BMW 3 Series' motorsport history at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Historic race cars like two racing M3s will participate in events such as Scott Pruett Legends of Endurance Cup Race and Mini Enduro.
The legendary Team PTG M3s achieved significant success between 1995 and 2006 with numerous wins and championships. The current livery reflects its participation in the IMSA Grand Am Series campaign in 2006.
BMW Art Cars Showcase
This year marks five decades since Hervé Poulain commissioned Alexander Calder to create the first BMW Art Car for Le Mans. At Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, two iconic Art Cars will be displayed: Andy Warhol's vivid depiction of speed on an M1 Group 4 from 1979 and Julie Mehretu's abstract design on an M Hybrid V8 from 2024.
Warhol’s work was completed in just under half an hour using polymer-based paint directly applied to the car. Mehretu’s creation involved digital alterations layered with vibrant neon veils and black markings characteristic of her style.
