Nissan Unveils All-New Third-Generation LEAF With Enhanced Range And Technology
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has introduced the redesigned 2026 LEAF, showcasing a sleek design with SUV-like features. The interior is spacious and comfortable, catering to various travel needs. Building on over 15 years of reliability and insights from nearly 700,000 global sales, this new model offers affordable and appealing electric vehicle (EV) ownership. It aims to attract both EV enthusiasts and traditional car buyers with its enhanced range, quicker charging, and advanced driving technologies.
The latest LEAF will be available in U.S. Nissan dealerships by Fall, with other regions following soon after. This model includes several first-time features for Nissan, such as a new 3-in-1 powertrain that integrates the motor, inverter, and reducer into a compact unit. Additionally, North American models will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port with Plug & Charge capability.
The LEAF introduces liquid-cooled lithium-ion batteries offering up to 75-kWh usable capacity. It also boasts dual 14.3-inch displays and Google built-in services like Google Maps. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included for seamless connectivity. The exterior features flush door handles and optional 19-inch wheels.
Inside, drivers can enjoy ambient lighting with 64 colour options and a premium Bose Personal Plus audio system. The vehicle also offers advanced safety features like the 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor, Invisible Hood View, and Front Wide View.
The all-new LEAF will be manufactured at Nissan's Tochigi plant in Japan for the U.S. and Canadian markets alongside the Ariya model. This strategic production decision aligns with Nissan's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
For more information on the complete range of features and specifications for different grades in the U.S., refer to the full 2026 Nissan LEAF press kit available online.
It's important to note that feature availability may vary depending on model year, trim level, packaging, and options chosen by consumers. Some services require activation of specific packages or subscriptions which may incur additional costs after trial periods end.
Drivers are reminded that while driver-assist technologies enhance safety, they have limitations. "The driver must never rely exclusively on any vehicle feature to warn about, prevent, or lessen the severity of a collision," according to Nissan's guidelines.
This new iteration of the LEAF continues Nissan's legacy of providing reliable EVs while incorporating modern technology to meet evolving consumer needs.
