Nissan Celebrates Micra 350SR's 23rd Birthday With Exciting Restomod Refresh

Nissan is celebrating the 23rd anniversary of its unique Micra 350SR with a refreshed design. This restomod project coincides with the upcoming launch of the new MICRA EV. The original Micra 350SR, created over two decades ago, was built to showcase the adaptability of the Micra platform and its racing heritage in Japan. It features a powerful engine from a Murano and components from a 350Z.

The updated version retains its impressive performance, boasting around 300hp with a weight of just 1200kg. Over the years, this car has been displayed at various Nissan events and loaned to journalists. With the sixth-generation Micra on the horizon, Nissan decided it was time for an update. The refresh was undertaken by Nissan Design Europe in London, who also designed the new MICRA EV.

The design team aimed to respect the car's history while modernising its appearance. They opted for a subtle restomod approach, incorporating elements from both the new MICRA EV and Concept 20-23 showcar. The exterior now features a satin 'liquid silver' base with blue highlights and graphics inspired by Nissan's '=III 23' iconography, reminiscent of the legendary 300ZX rear lights.

Gloss black finishes adorn the grille and lower parts, along with refurbished 18-inch RAYS 350Z alloys. LED headlights with semi-circular daytime running lights complete the look, enhancing both style and safety. Inside, updates include new seats, harnesses, and a 9-inch touchscreen equipped with Apple Carplay and Android Auto for navigation and entertainment.

The refreshed Micra 350SR will debut on May 15th at the SMMT Test Day at Millbrook Proving Ground, where it was originally developed over two decades ago. Journalists interested in experiencing this piece of Nissan's history are encouraged to reach out promptly.

Nissan's commitment to sustainability is evident in its long-term vision, Ambition 2030. This plan focuses on delivering electrified models globally while aiming for carbon neutrality across product life cycles by 2050. The AMIEO region plays a crucial role in this strategy, covering diverse markets across Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania.

The number '23' holds special significance for Nissan due to its phonetic resemblance to 'ni' (2) and 'san' (3) in Japanese. This number has been associated with NISMO racing cars for nearly four decades. As Nissan continues to innovate and expand its electrified offerings, it remains dedicated to sustainable mobility solutions worldwide.
