Nissan LEAF Enhances Electric Vehicle Experience With Advanced Lifestyle Technology

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled the final part of its LEAF Insights video series, showcasing how the third-generation electric vehicle (EV) enhances daily driving and simplifies EV ownership. Richard Candler, Vice President of Global Product Strategy, highlighted the new LEAF's intelligent route planner, integrated with Google Automotive Services, which helps drivers easily locate charging stations along their routes.

The latest Nissan LEAF aims to make EV ownership more convenient by offering a seamless charging experience. When connected to a fast charger, the vehicle can gain up to 250 km of range in just 14 minutes. In the U.S., it supports North American Charging Standard (NACS) and Plug and Charge functionality, further enhancing user convenience.

Additionally, the new LEAF includes a navigation-linked conditioning function that optimises battery cooling based on the input destination. This system evaluates the route for factors like steep hills or long freeway stretches and adjusts battery cooling to conserve energy when needed.

The all-new Nissan LEAF offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) connection points on certain models in the U.S., allowing owners to power devices using up to 1500 watts from connectors located inside the cabin and cargo area. This feature is ideal for camping or outdoor activities where powering small to medium-sized devices is necessary.

In Japan, the LEAF continues to support Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality. This allows it to supply electricity back to a home or receive solar energy. By connecting to a home energy management system, users can power household appliances or charge devices using stored vehicle energy.

Energy Efficiency and Backup Power

This capability not only boosts energy efficiency but also reduces grid reliance during peak times, providing added convenience for owners. The vehicle can also serve as a backup power source during outages. Keiji Endo, Chief Planning Specialist, stated: "V2X...supports not only energy balance between supply and demand but also supports society to utilize renewable energy."

The third-generation Nissan LEAF will be fully revealed next week. Interested individuals can watch the global launch on June 17 at 9 PM JST via Nissan's Global YouTube channel using #PowerToMoveYou.
