Nissan Group Reports U.S. Sales Decline Of 6.5% In Second Quarter 2025
Nissan Group reported a decline in U.S. sales for the second quarter of 2025, with total units sold reaching 221,441, marking a 6.5% drop compared to the previous year. Despite this overall decrease, certain models showed significant growth. The Nissan Z sports car saw a remarkable increase of 160.1%, while the Murano crossover's sales rose by 99.5%. The Versa sedan also experienced a notable rise of 71.9% during this period.
The Nissan Division recorded a total of 209,114 units sold in the second quarter of 2025, reflecting a 6.1% decrease from the same period in 2024. However, several models performed well, including the Kicks compact crossover and Leaf hatchback, which saw increases of 52.8% and 28%, respectively. The Ariya electric crossover also experienced growth with a rise of 24.3% in sales.

In terms of calendar year-to-date figures for 2025, Nissan Division sales slightly increased by 0.3%, reaching 463,034 units compared to the previous year's performance. This modest growth was supported by strong performances from core vehicles like Rogue and Pathfinder.
INFINITI's sales for the second quarter of 2025 amounted to 12,327 units, representing a decline of 12.7% compared to the same period in the prior year. Year-to-date figures also showed a decrease of 9%, with total sales reaching 25,492 units in comparison to last year's numbers.
Among INFINITI models, the QX80 saw an impressive increase in sales by 28% during the quarter, while other models like Q50 and Q60 experienced significant declines.
Truck and Car Sales Analysis
Overall truck sales for Nissan Group rose by 6.3% during the second quarter of 2025 compared to last year’s figures. This increase was driven by strong performances from models such as Pathfinder and Murano.
Conversely, car sales faced challenges with a decline of 23.1%. Notably affected were models like Sentra and Altima which saw reductions in their quarterly sales figures.
Production Insights
North American production for Nissan reached a total of 177,881 units during this quarter, showing a decrease of 5.8% from last year’s numbers. Cars produced locally dropped by 24.2%, while trucks manufactured domestically increased by nearly 12%. Imported vehicles also faced challenges with an overall reduction in both car and truck categories.
The company remains optimistic about maintaining momentum into the third quarter with key models such as Rogue and Frontier expected to continue performing well.
Nissan North America calculates quarterly variances based on straight-percentage changes without adjusting for selling days; both quarters had equal selling days at seventy-seven each.
