Nissan To Quadruple India Lineup By Mid-2027 - Gravite, Tekton & 7-Seater SUV Launch Timelines Confirmed

Nissan's past few years have been a lonely one, with the Japanese firm's showrooms just featuring a single offering in the form of the Magnite. Nissan tried multiple times to introduce multiple models into the market, including its iconic X-Trail SUV, but none of them have seemed to work, leaving the Magnite as its sole torchbearer in India.

All that is set to change now with Nissan today revealing more details about its utility vehicle onslaught, which will start with the newly named Gravite MPV, which will launch in January and will be followed by the Tekton 5-seater C-SUV and the yet-to-be-named 7-Seater C-SUV. Let's take a look at the confirmed timelines for Nissan's latest revival plans for India...

Nissan Gravite - January 2026

Nissan today confirmed the name of its upcoming B-segment MPV for India as the Gravite, and confirmed that it would be launching in January 2026. The Nissan Gravite will be the first model under the company's new product strategy for the Indian market and will enter showrooms in March 2026.

The Gravite is based on the same underlying platform as the Triber, the seven-seater compact MPV from the Japanese marque's partner Renault that is already on sale, which will also be its only direct competition in the Indian market. Other 7-seater MPVS like the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and Citroen C3 Aircross compete in the segment above the one the upcoming Nissan Gravite is targeting.

On the exterior, Nissan's new design language will be applied to the Gravite, including a bold bonnet with strong lines and creases, prominent Gravite lettering across the front, fog lamps integrated into a premium-accented bumper, and sleek LED tail lamps on the rear fascia.

Underpinned by the CMF-A platform, the Nissan Gravite is expected to be powered by the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Triber, which will be paired with both manual and automatic transmission options. Nissan may also offer a dealer-level CNG retrofit kit for the MPV.

Nissan Tekton

Nissan Tekton - February 2026

Alongside the Gravite, Nissan has confirmed the Tekton, its long-awaited C-segment SUV, will be revealed in February 2026, at its brand resurgence event. The Tekton's name and initial design sketches were revealed by Nissan in October.

The Tekton is based on the upcoming new-generation Renault Duster platform, but will carry distinctive Nissan design cues. The Nissan Tekton's design is based on the new-generation Patrol, with the firm even calling it a baby Patrol when it revealed its nameplate.

Design elements on the Tekton will include full-width LED light bars at each end and a grille that reflects Nissan's global SUV identity. Inside, the cabin is expected to offer spacious seating, a large touchscreen, digital instrument gauges, automatic climate control, and smartphone connectivity.

The Tekton will be built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B modular platform, with two engine options likely at launch: a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol producing about 154 hp and 250 Nm and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid powertrain. Both manual and automatic transmission choices are expected to be offered.

When it arrives (expected around the second half of 2026), the Tekton will compete in the compact SUV segment with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and the Tata Sierra.

Nissan Seven-Seater C SUV - 1st Half of 2027

Nissan also confirmed that it will be launching its seven-seater C-segment SUV in the first half of 2027 (confirmed launch set sometime in the next 14-16 months). The new C-Segment SUV from Nissan for India will be based on the same platform as the Tekton.

However, Nissan has stated that this larger C-SUV will not just be an extended version of the Tekton but instead will have a more premium design and a cabin experience that will really differs that of the Tekton. No other details are available about Nissan's upcoming 7-seater C-SUV.

After a long while, offering just a single product in the Indian market, Nissan's revival in India is set to truly begin in 2026 with the arrival of the Gravite. This will truly set things rolling for a proper expansion for Nissan, which by 2027 will see the Japanese firm quadruple its offerings in India.
