Nissan Formula E Team Secures Top-10 Finish Despite Challenging Conditions In Jakarta
Nissan Formula E Team secured a points finish with Oliver Rowland in Round 12 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Despite challenging conditions, the team showed strong performance during the race. Overnight rain left the track muddy, complicating qualifying for both Rowland and teammate Norman Nato, who started from P16 and P21 respectively.
Rowland gained two positions early on at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit. He continued to advance into the top-10 despite facing two Full Course Yellows during his Attack Mode. Although he finished seventh, a five-second penalty for causing a collision dropped him to 10th. The incident is under investigation, with results expected soon.

Nato employed a different strategy, advancing several places in the first half of the race. Unfortunately, a Safety Car during his six minutes of 350kW power hindered his progress. Despite this setback, he managed to secure the fastest lap of the E-Prix and improved by seven positions, finishing 14th overall.
The results allowed Rowland to extend his lead in the Drivers' Standings to 69 points. Nissan maintains its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship and holds second place in the Teams' Standings by just 12 points with four races remaining.
The next Formula E event is scheduled for 12-13 July at Berlin's Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit. Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, acknowledged the difficult conditions during FP2 due to rain and tough qualifying sessions that prevented both drivers from reaching duels.
"The rain made FP2 a very difficult session, with the track in very poor conditions, and then we had a tough qualifying with both drivers missing out on the duels," said Volpe. "Despite this, both Oli and Norman delivered great drives with Oli moving up into the top-10, crossing the line in seventh before a penalty demoted him down to 10th."

Oliver Rowland expressed satisfaction with their race execution despite disappointing qualifying results. "We executed a very good race after a disappointing qualifying," he stated. "I was still able to extend my lead in the Drivers' Championship by a point." He emphasised their focus on understanding qualifying issues to improve performance in Berlin.
Norman Nato reflected on missing duels during qualifying at Jakarta's challenging circuit but remained optimistic about their pace during races. "It's always difficult when you miss the duels in qualifying," Nato noted. "However, in the race we did a great job." He highlighted their potential for securing valuable championship points in upcoming rounds.
