Nissan Formula E Team Celebrates First Victory Of Season 11 In Mexico City
Oliver Rowland secured Nissan Formula E Team's first victory of Season 11 in the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. His late overtakes in Round 2 led to a significant win in Mexico City. Starting fourth on the grid, Rowland advanced to third by Turn 1 on the second lap. He executed a crucial overtake at the last corner, moving up another position as the race neared its midpoint.
Rowland strategically saved his Attack Mode for later, unlike his competitors. This decision paid off during a late Safety Car restart, allowing him to leap from fourth to first in under a minute. Meanwhile, Norman Nato, starting from P18, fought hard and finished in P13 after gaining five positions. Nissan now ranks second in the Manufacturers' Standings, with Rowland also holding second place in the Drivers' Championship.

The next event is scheduled for February 13-15 in Jeddah, marking the season's first double-header. Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, expressed his delight: "It's an amazing result for the team and to achieve this victory in Mexico, which is such an important market for Nissan, and in front of these brilliant fans is very special."
Oliver Rowland shared his excitement about winning in Mexico: "I'm delighted to take this victory in Mexico, as it's always been a track that I've wanted to win at with these amazing fans in this incredible stadium." Despite initial setbacks due to the timing of the Safety Car period, he capitalised on extra power post-restart for decisive overtakes.
Norman Nato reflected on his performance: "We showed strong potential throughout the event but unfortunately, we failed to put everything together at the crucial time in qualifying." He noted difficulties with tyre temperature affecting their race strategy but remained optimistic about their current standings.
