Nissan Formula E Team Concludes Season 11 With Mixed Results At London Finale

Nissan Formula E Team faced challenges during the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship's final weekend. Despite a special teal-blue livery for the Nissan LEAF launch, Norman Nato scored points on Saturday. Oliver Rowland, however, encountered issues on Sunday, leading to an early exit. The team aimed for both the Teams' and Manufacturers' titles but fell short.

In Round 15, Nato started in 16th place but climbed to ninth, showcasing strong performance. Meanwhile, Rowland began in 12th but finished 11th due to damage from contact during the race. The team remained focused on the season's last round despite these setbacks.

Both drivers narrowly missed qualifying duels, starting side-by-side in ninth and tenth positions. Nato had to pit early after contact but managed to finish just outside the top ten in 11th place. Rowland made significant progress from tenth but an incident ended his race prematurely while he was in podium contention.

The season concluded with Nissan securing four pole positions and seven podiums, including four victories. Oliver Rowland clinched the Drivers' title earlier in Berlin, with two races remaining. Nissan achieved its best finish in the Teams' Championship since taking full control of the team, securing third place.

Nissan entered Formula E in Season 5 (2018/19) as the first Japanese manufacturer. In Season 7 (2020/21), they committed long-term to the GEN3 era until Season 12 (2025/26). In April 2022, Nissan acquired e.dams, taking full ownership of their Formula E involvement.

In March 2024, before Tokyo's first E-Prix, Nissan announced its commitment to the GEN4 era until 2030. This aligns with their Ambition 2030 electrification goals. Nissan aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 and plans to electrify all new vehicles by the early 2030s.

Reflections on Season Performance

Tommaso Volpe expressed pride despite finishing third in both championships after leading parts of the season. He highlighted achievements like seven podiums and four wins while noting areas for improvement next season.

"It's been a difficult weekend," said Oliver Rowland about his struggles with pace and contact incidents. "Overall, Season 11 has been remarkable." He celebrated becoming World Champion and looked forward to improving next season.

Formula E's Environmental Impact

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is certified net zero carbon from inception since 2020. It offsets emissions through climate projects globally. The series promotes sustainable mobility by racing electric cars on city streets to combat air pollution and climate change effects.

Norman Nato reflected on maximizing performance by gaining seven places on Saturday but faced setbacks due to unavoidable incidents on Sunday. Despite a disappointing weekend, he praised the team's efforts throughout the season.

Nissan races in Formula E to showcase zero-emission vehicles globally while transferring technology between racetrack and road for better electric vehicles for customers.
