Nissan's Upcoming Creta Rival Spotted Testing in India For The First Time : Re-Badged Duster
Nissan is gearing up to introduce a new midsize SUV, derived from the Renault Duster, by mid-2026. This vehicle has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time.
The upcoming Nissan SUV aims to compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the upcoming Maruti Victoris SUV.

The spy images reveal several design elements of the heavily camouflaged Nissan SUV. At the front, it features flared plastic wheel arches, 5-spoke alloy wheels, a sculpted bonnet, and a prominent grille with a central Nissan badge. C-shaped elements are visible in the bumper.
At the rear, there is a spoiler, roof rail, shark fin antenna, sculpted tailgate with centrally placed number plate housing, and rectangular tail-lights.
While not much is known about the interior of this new Nissan SUV, it is expected to share its layout and features list with the India-bound Renault Duster. The spy shots do not provide much detail about its features or safety kit. A 7-seat version will also be part of Nissan's lineup. This variant will be based on the Renault Bigster revealed internationally.
The new midsize SUVs from Renault and Nissan are anticipated to share powertrain options. Initially powered by petrol engines, details about which specific engine will be offered remain undisclosed. A hybrid version of the Duster is expected within a year of its petrol launch; thus, Nissan's SUV might also receive a petrol-electric powertrain later on.
A CNG-powered variant of Nissan's SUV is also anticipated. However, this installation will be managed through non-factory partnerships rather than being factory-fitted.

This initial sneak peek of Nissan's upcoming rival to the all-conquering Hyundai Creta gives us a first look at the Japanese carmaker's upcoming badge-engineered version of the Renault Duster.
While details are scarce, thanks to the liberal use of camouflage, we're hopeful that this SUV and the upcoming MPV based on the updated Renault Triber will kickstart the firm's revival in India.
