Acura Unveils Next-Generation All-Electric RSX Nameplate For Performance Lineup

Acura has revealed that its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) will be named the "RSX." This model is based on the Acura Performance EV Concept and will be the first to use Honda's new EV platform. It will also introduce the ASIMO OS operating system, which Honda unveiled at CES 2025. The RSX will be produced at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio, with production set to begin later this year.

The establishment of the Honda EV Hub in Ohio marks a significant shift in Honda's manufacturing strategy. This facility will allow for the production of internal combustion, hybrid-electric, and battery electric vehicles on a single line. The retooling of several plants, including Marysville Auto Plant and East Liberty Auto Plant, aims to enhance efficiency and quality while being environmentally responsible.

Acura Introduces All-Electric RSX Nameplate

Mike Fischer, executive chief engineer and leader of the Honda North American BEV Project, stated, "We began production of Acura vehicles in America 30 years ago, so we are excited to make the Acura RSX the first EV we build at the Honda EV Hub." He emphasized that this hub represents a complete reimagining of their manufacturing approach.

Real-world testing for the all-electric RSX has commenced this week. Prototype models are being driven with a unique camouflage wrap designed by Acura's global design team. This camouflage highlights the sleek silhouette of the vehicle while conveying calmness and strength through its patterns.

The nameplate "RSX" pays tribute to its coupe-like design but signifies a modern take on performance driving. Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, mentioned that this model would strengthen Acura's position as an attractive brand for new buyers.

Upcoming Models and Production Plans

This spring, Acura plans to expand its lineup with the introduction of the 2025 Acura ADX. This premium compact SUV features a turbocharged engine and aims to attract a new generation of buyers. The ADX joins other models like RDX, MDX, TLX, Integra, and ZDX in offering diverse options for consumers.

The Honda EV Hub is nearing completion for EV production in Ohio. Significant progress includes installing six high-pressure die-cast machines at Anna Engine Plant for megacasting IPU cases. These cases are larger than any previously cast by Honda and represent a new global capability for the company.

Acura's Commitment to Innovation

Acura continues to focus on innovative engineering and dynamic performance across its lineup. With models like Integra and TLX sedans alongside RDX and MDX SUVs, Acura maintains its Precision Crafted Performance DNA. All vehicles sold in America are manufactured in North America using both domestic and globally sourced parts.

The launch of these new models underscores Acura's commitment to delivering engaging driving experiences while adapting to evolving automotive trends. As they prepare for future challenges, their dedication remains strong towards providing quality vehicles that meet customer expectations worldwide.
