Renault Prepares For Duster’s Return & Kiger, Triber Facelifts
Renault is gearing up to introduce the all-new Duster in India next year. Venkatram Mamillapalle, Renault India's MD and CEO, confirmed that facelifts for the Kiger SUV and Triber MPV are also on the horizon for later this year. The new Duster's market debut is eagerly anticipated as Renault has not launched any major products recently.
Upcoming Facelifts for Kiger and Triber
The Kiger and Triber will undergo significant styling updates, aligning with Renault's latest global models. Sources indicate that the Kiger will receive a design overhaul, moving away from its current Kwid-inspired appearance. Additionally, Renault might introduce its new logo with these updates.

Interior Enhancements Expected
Inside, both models will see subtle changes, including lighter shades and more soft-touch materials. These updates mirror those seen in the refreshed Nissan Magnite SUV. However, the engine options will remain unchanged; the Kiger will continue with its 1.0-litre NA and turbo petrol engines, while the Triber retains its 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit.
Production of the new Duster is set to begin by September. Meanwhile, Renault has been refreshing its existing lineup with special editions of models like the Kiger, Triber, and Kwid to maintain interest. Despite these efforts, sales have been lacklustre over the past year.
Sales Performance Of Current Models
The Kiger has averaged under a thousand units monthly in 2024, while the Triber has fared slightly better at around 1,500 units. Both models were initially launched with competitive pricing and features but have struggled to maintain momentum in recent times.
Renault introduced the Triber in 2019 and the Kiger in 2021 as part of its India-focused strategy. These sub-four-metre vehicles were designed to offer value for money but have faced challenges in sustaining sales figures.

Third-Gen Duster Set For 2026 Launch
Looking ahead, Renault India plans to launch an "all-new SUV" in 2026—the third-generation Duster. This model debuted globally last year and marks a return of the popular Duster nameplate after a four-year hiatus in India.
The first-gen Duster was sold from 2012 to 2022 in India, but the second-gen never made it here. The upcoming third-gen Duster will be available in four versions, including a three-row Bigster variant arriving later.
Both the Duster and Bigster will have Nissan derivatives with distinct identities. All four SUVs will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan's Chennai plant for domestic sales and exports to various markets.
Renault also exports models like the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger to 14 countries beyond catering to Indian consumers. This strategy highlights Renault's commitment to expanding its footprint both locally and internationally through strategic product launches and updates.
