New Mahindra Bolero Neo Coming Soon: Powertrain, Transmission & Other Key Details
Mahindra is preparing to unveil a significant facelift for the Bolero Neo on August 15. Recent images of a camouflaged test vehicle have sparked interest, with some mistaking it for a next-gen Bolero. However, it's confirmed to be an updated version of the Bolero Neo. This facelift will coincide with the debut of a new platform concept.
Exterior Design
The revamped Bolero Neo will feature a completely new body design, marking a departure from typical facelifts. The vehicle retains its ladder frame chassis but introduces an entirely different exterior. The new design includes unique body panels that differ significantly from the current model.

The updated Bolero Neo's sides resembles the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with its distinctive upward kink on the shoulder line from the C-pillar onwards. Furthermore, the model is expected to feature flush door handles, whereas the pronounced lower bulges hints at body cladding. The front and rear wheel arches are more flared, and it rides on larger twin 5-spoke alloy wheels.
Interior Enhancements
Inside, Mahindra is likely to equip the Bolero Neo facelift with six airbags and other interior changes. Although interior images weren't available, expectations include a redesigned dashboard and larger touchscreen among other features.
Powertrain Details
The current Bolero Neo is powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine delivering 100hp and 260Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a manual gearbox. It's uncertain if this facelift will introduce any mechanical upgrades. However, we are hoping for the model to get a retuned powertrain with more power and torque, along with an option to choose a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
Future Plans for Next-Gen Bolero
A next-gen Bolero based on an all-new monocoque (NFA) platform is anticipated by late-2026. This platform will support petrol, diesel, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains. Mahindra plans to showcase a concept version of this platform at their Independence Day event.
