Mitsubishi Motors Announces Significant Updates For The 2026 Model Year Lineup

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has unveiled updates for its 2026 model lineup, focusing on the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid and a new mild-hybrid powertrain for the Outlander. These enhancements align with MMNA's Momentum 2030 plan to introduce a new or significantly revised vehicle annually in the U.S. from 2026 to 2030. Detailed pricing and specifications will be shared closer to each model's release.

The 2026 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid receives a mid-cycle refresh, featuring an upgraded interior with sound-deadening materials, new colours, and redesigned elements like the centre console and phone charger. Externally, it sports a revised grille, bumper, and new wheels. A larger battery enhances its all-electric range and performance. The vehicle maintains Mitsubishi's Super-All Wheel Control system for improved driving dynamics.

Mitsubishi Motors Reveals 2026 Model Updates

The 2026 Outlander introduces a Mitsubishi-designed engine paired with its first mild-hybrid system. This replaces the previous 2.5-litre engine with a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit shared with the Eclipse Cross. The new powertrain improves acceleration through electrified torque. New trims include an LE trim between ES and SE, an SEL Black Edition, and the return of the Ralliart model.

The Eclipse Cross for 2026 sees minimal changes, with hood badging now standard on SEL trims. It retains its design from previous models while offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across all trims. The S-AWC all-wheel-drive system remains standard, ensuring stability in various conditions.

The Outlander Sport continues as an affordable option with features like rear-seat warnings and child-seat anchors. It includes Mitsubishi's All-Wheel Control system for off-road adventures. According to Ipsos research, 97% of small CUV buyers who considered an Outlander Sport ended up purchasing one.

Trail Editions for both Outlander and Outlander Sport feature unique graphics, wheels, and accessories like Thule roof racks. These editions build on Mitsubishi's motorsport heritage in events like the Dakar Rally.

Warranty Coverage

Mitsubishi offers comprehensive warranties across its lineup: a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty, seven-year/100,000-mile corrosion warranty, five-year roadside assistance without mileage limits, and a two-year maintenance program.

MMNA operates through about 330 dealers in the U.S., focusing on sales and customer service for Mitsubishi vehicles. Their Momentum 2030 plan aims to expand their lineup with advanced technology engines and hybrids by doubling their current offerings by 2030.
