Mini Cooper S Owners Can Rejoice: Company Announces Price Protection
Mini India has introduced a Price Protection Assurance scheme for the Mini Cooper S. This initiative ensures that buyers benefit from any future price reductions. The programme is available at all authorised Mini India dealerships and applies exclusively to the Mini Cooper S, which is manufactured in Oxford, UK, and imported as a completely built unit (CBU).
The Mini Cooper S is priced between Rs 44.90 lakh and Rs 55.90 lakh ex-showroom. Buyers can choose from different packs: Classic Pack at Rs 50.45 lakh, Favoured Pack at Rs 53.40 lakh, and JCW Pack at Rs 55.90 lakh. The assurance programme allows customers to receive benefits of any price cuts up to 180 days after purchase.

Potential Impact Of India-UK FTA On Prices
The recent India-UK free trade agreement (FTA) could lead to a reduction in prices for UK-made models like the Mini Cooper S. Under this agreement, tariffs on "high-end cars" imported from the UK will decrease from 100% to just 10%. However, some details still need clarification by both governments.
Vikram Pawah, president and CEO of BMW Group India, stated, "Mini has always stood for innovation and a bold character. With the price protection assurance programme for Mini 3-Door Cooper S, we are staying a step ahead and ensuring that customers are able to receive the full benefit of any major price reductions resulting from anticipated duty cuts."
Exclusions & Customer Concerns
It's important to note that the all-electric Mini Countryman is not included in this offer as it is produced at BMW Group's Leipzig plant in Germany. The uncertainty surrounding the FTA has led to fewer enquiries for British brands like Mini and JLR in India as customers await further clarity on its implications.
The Price Protection Assurance aims to alleviate some uncertainties among potential buyers by offering them peace of mind regarding possible future price reductions. This scheme encourages customers not to delay their purchase decisions while awaiting further details about the FTA's impact.
DriveSpark Thinks
This initiative reflects Mini's commitment to customer satisfaction by ensuring they receive full benefits from any significant price drops due to expected duty cuts under the new trade agreement.
