MINI Charity Road Rally Raises £7,000 For Buttle UK Children’s Charity In 2024
On 27th April, a convoy of over 120 MINIs embarked on a charity road rally from MINI Plant Oxford to BMW Group Plant Swindon. This event marked the fifth year of support from MINI Plant Oxford and aimed to raise funds for Buttle UK, a charity dedicated to assisting children in crisis across the UK.
The rally was organised by The Italian Job, an organisation committed to raising money for children's charities while celebrating all things MINI. Since its inception in 1990, The Italian Job has raised over £3 million for children's charities. This year's rally successfully collected £7,000 for Buttle UK.
MINI Plant Oxford has been a key supporter of this event since 2021, serving as the starting point for the rally. Before setting off, participants had the chance to explore the on-site museum. The museum showcases various MINI models from past and present, including notable vehicles like the 1914 Morris Oxford Bullnose and a dual-steering wheel R53 MINI Cooper used in the 2003 remake of The Italian Job.
Upon reaching BMW Group Plant Swindon, the convoy formed an impressive display. This plant is responsible for producing body pressings and sub-assemblies for various BMW and MINI models. As one of the oldest automotive plants globally, MINI Plant Oxford has been operational since 1913 and is renowned for its technological advancements and sustainability efforts in automotive production.
