MG Motors Celebrates After Crossing 1 Lakh Electric Car Sales
JSW Group-owned MG Motors has enjoyed huge success in India with its electric cars. The popular British brand is selling EVs such as the MG ZS EV, MG Windsor, and the MG Comet. They are directly competing against India's leading EV seller, Tata Motors.
Five years ago, MG Motors introduced its first electric car, the ZS EV. Since then, they have become one of the key players in the EV segment, and in just five years, MG Motors' EV Sales have crossed the 1 lakh sales margin.
Speaking of the achievement, JSW MG Motor Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra said, "Crossing the 100,000 EV sales milestone reflects the trust Indian customers place in sustainable choices. I thank our customers and the entire JSW MG Motor India team for this momentous milestone. As mobility evolves, we remain committed to driving India's vision of innovative and clean mobility solutions."
MG Motors game-changer electric car

After the ZS EV, MG introduced the Comet EV, targeting city commuters, as it is a micro-electric car. It was successful as many users loved its compact city-friendly design, great features, and range. Then came the real game changer in the form of MG Windsor last September 2024.
The Compact electric SUV was launched at an affordable price. In May 2025, they released a Windsor Pro variant with a longer range. This Windsor EV is now leading the sales chart, accounting for almost 70% of MG's sales volume. From April to September 2025, MG sold 26,640 electric cars in India, achieving 220% YOY growth.

Windsor EV SUV is more affordable and practical, with many class-leading features. Its Price starts at Rs 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), and offers a maximum range of 449 km. For elite buyers, MG Motors has launched the Cyberster roadster and M9 Luxury MPV. These cars offer high performance and luxury.
MG Motors is targeting a 70-80% EV share in India, and the Windsor EV will definitely play a big role in achieving its target. Their current EV market share is 35%, while Tata Motors holds 40%. Mahindra Electric is slowly catching up with its BE 06 and the XEV 9e models. This month, we will see one more electric car, from Mahindra, the XEV 9s, which launches on November 27, 2025.
