MG Windsor EV Accounts For Company's 49% Sales: 10,000 Units Sold In Last 3 Months
In an impressive showing within the electric vehicle (EV) market, JSW MG Motor India's MG Windsor EV has seen remarkable success. In the final three months of 2024 alone, this five-seater EV surpassed wholesales of 10,000 units, marking a significant milestone for the company. This surge in sales highlights the growing interest and demand for electric vehicles in India, with the MG Windsor leading the charge.
The MG Windsor EV, unveiled in September with starting prices at Rs 13.49 lakh, has captivated buyers with its innovative features. Among these are lounge-like seating and a lifetime battery warranty, setting new standards in the EV segment. These offerings have significantly contributed to the model's popularity, making it a flagship product for MG Motor India.

This electric vehicle has not only energized MG's sales in India but has also become a pivotal part of the brand’s lineup. The Windsor, alongside the Comet and ZS EVs, now represents over 70% of MG's total sales. This shift underscores the growing importance of electric vehicles in MG Motor India's strategy and their successful reception among Indian consumers.
The last quarter of 2024 saw the Windsor EV's sales numbers climb steadily from October to December, reflecting an increasing consumer preference for electric vehicles. This period witnessed MG Motor India dispatching a whopping 10,045 Windsor units, making up nearly half of its total passenger vehicle sales during these months.

MG Motor India's Expanding EV Footprint
The company's focus on electric vehicles has significantly altered its sales dynamics. From October to December 2024, MG Motor India’s EV sales shot up, with the Windsor EV leading the pack. The detailed sales figures are as follows: October saw 3,116 units, November had 3,144, and December reached a peak of 3,785 units. This performance underscores the Windsor EV's crucial role in MG's portfolio and its popularity among consumers.
MG Motor India offers a diverse range of vehicles, including four SUVs—the Hector, Astor, Gloster, and ZS EV—one hatchback, the Comet EV, and the Windsor. This broad selection caters to various consumer needs and preferences, with the Windsor EV quickly becoming a standout model. Its success has been instrumental in increasing MG Motor India's electric vehicle sales share from 11% to an impressive 21%.

The company's achievements in the electric vehicle segment extend beyond just sales numbers. By the end of 2024, MG Motor India had seen a 125% increase in EV sales compared to the previous year, boosting its market share to 21% from 11%. This remarkable growth has positioned MG Motor India as a significant player in the country's EV market, securing the number two spot behind Tata Motors.
MG Motor India's Future Endeavors
Looking ahead, MG Motor India is not resting on its laurels. The company is aggressively expanding its sales network, focusing on Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities, as well as rural markets across India. With plans to establish 100 new touchpoints by the end of 2024 and aiming for 520 touchpoints in 270 cities by March 2025, MG is committed to making its vehicles more accessible to a broader audience.
The upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo, scheduled for January 17-22, will see MG Motor India unveiling the Cyberster roadster. This vehicle will spearhead the company's newly launched luxury brand channel, MG Select, signaling MG's ambition to explore new segments and innovate further. Following the Cyberster, the Mifa 9 MPV is expected to join MG's lineup, further expanding the brand's electric vehicle offerings.
