JSW MG Motor India made headlines at Auto Expo 2025 with the introduction of its new flagship electric vehicle, the MG M9, marking a significant step in the brand's journey in the Indian market. Known as the "Presidential Limousine," this luxury EV is now available for bookings with a deposit of ₹51,000 through the company's website, under the firm's premium MG Select sub-brand. The M9 is expected to be priced between ₹65 lakh and ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom), showcasing JSW MG's commitment to delivering top-tier automotive innovations.
The M9 sets a new standard in the luxury MPV segment, targeting affluent buyers looking for an exclusive chauffeur-driven experience. This vehicle stands out with its impressive dimensions, measuring 5270 mm in length, 2000 mm in width, and 1840 mm in height, along with a substantial wheelbase of 3200 mm. These proportions provide a spacious interior, available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations, ensuring comfort for all occupants.
The MG M9 is powered by a robust front-mounted electric motor, delivering 242 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. This powerful setup is complemented by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery, affording a commendable WLTP-certified range of 430 km. The vehicle also boasts fast-charging capabilities, allowing the battery to replenish from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime and enhanced convenience for users.
The interior is a haven of sophistication, featuring "Presidential Seats" in the second row with 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, and eight massage modes for unrivaled comfort. The ambiance is further enriched by a 64-colour ambient lighting system, a dual yacht-style panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker premium sound system. Passengers can choose between pure black and cognac brown interior colour options to suit their personal style.
In terms of technology, the M9 is equipped with features including Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 7 airbags for enhanced safety, a 360-degree surround camera for ease of maneuvering, and electronic stability control. Front and rear parking sensors, fold-out ottoman seats, individual entertainment screens for rear-seat passengers, and a floating central console underscore the vehicle's focus on passenger comfort and convenience. Additionally, a panoramic rear sunroof and three-zone climate control system ensure a pleasant journey regardless of the external environment.
Market Positioning and Competitors
The MG M9 aims to carve a niche in the Indian automotive market by competing with established models such as the Kia EV9, Toyota Vellfire, and the Lexus LM. Having made its debut at the 2025 Auto Expo, the M9 is poised for its market launch, with deliveries expected to commence shortly.
