MG Comet EV Prices Hiked Again - Third Time This Year
JSW MG Motor India has increased the prices of its Comet EV, marking the third hike in 2025. Despite this, the Comet EV remains the most budget-friendly electric vehicle in its category. The latest price adjustment sees the base Comet EV now starting at Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The MG Comet EV is available in several trims: Executive, Excite, Exclusive, and a special Blackstorm Edition. The Executive variant's price has risen by Rs 14,300, bringing it to Rs 7.50 lakh. Meanwhile, both the Excite and Exclusive variants have seen an increase of Rs 15,000 each, now priced at Rs 8.57 lakh and Rs 9.56 lakh respectively.

Price Adjustments for MG Comet EV Variants
The Excite FC and Exclusive FC variants are now priced at Rs 8.97 lakh and Rs 9.97 lakh respectively. The top-tier Blackstorm Edition has become more expensive by Rs 13,700, with a new starting price of Rs 10 lakh. These revised prices are effective immediately.
In comparison to its rivals, MG Comet EV still holds an edge in affordability. For instance, Tata Tiago EV starts at Rs 7.99 lakh while Citroen eC3 is significantly higher at Rs 11.99 lakh. Renault Kwid EV might enter the market later this year with an estimated base price of around Rs 7 lakh.
MG's BaaS Program Enhances Accessibility
MG Motor's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program has been pivotal in making the Comet EV more accessible to buyers. This initiative allows customers to pay for battery usage per kilometre rather than upfront costs, easing monthly financial burdens. The BaaS program offers significant savings on initial purchase prices across various Comet EV models. Under this scheme, the base Executive variant can be acquired for just Rs 4.99 lakh while the Excite variant is available at Rs 6.20 lakh.
The Excite FC variant under BaaS costs Rs 6.60 lakh whereas the Exclusive starts at Rs 7.20 lakh; the Exclusive FC is priced at Rs 7.60 lakh under this program. The Blackstorm Edition under BaaS begins at just Rs 7.63 lakh which gives MG Comet EV a competitive advantage as no other rival currently offers similar options.
MG's sales figures reflect the success of their BaaS initiative with Windsor EV leading sales followed closely by Comet EV contributing nearly 15% to overall volumes. Initially launched with a battery rental rate of Rs 2.50 per km during its debut period; it was later adjusted to Rs 2.9 per km before reaching its current rate of Rs 3.1 per km.
This innovative approach not only reduces upfront costs but also aligns better with consumers' monthly budgets making it easier for them to manage expenses effectively over time without compromising on quality or performance expectations from their vehicles.
