Honda has dominated the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season with victories in all seven races so far. Chip Ganassi Racing's Alex Palou claimed wins at St. Petersburg, Thermal Club, Barber, the Indy GP, and the Indianapolis 500. Meanwhile, Andretti Global's Kyle Kirkwood triumphed at Long Beach and Detroit.
The qualifying session saw five Honda-powered cars secure top-ten positions. Colton Herta took eighth place, followed by championship leader Alex Palou in ninth. Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top ten after his recent victory in Detroit. Scott Dixon, who won at this track in 2023, will start from eleventh as he aims for another win on the 1.25-mile circuit.
Marcus Armstrong expressed satisfaction with his performance: "Good qualifying and a good day for MSR. The car was pretty strong and, you know, I wish I could do it again because I think we could probably get another tenth out of it." He remains optimistic about moving forward in the race.
Felix Rosenqvist also shared his thoughts on their team's performance: "Pretty good team day for MSR, sixth and seventh. We'll take that! It's always our aim to be higher." He noted that while they were close to pole position last year, they managed a solid run this time around.
The full list of Honda qualifiers includes Marcus Ericsson in thirteenth and Devlin DeFrancesco in seventeenth. Rinus VeeKay will start eighteenth, while Louis Foster-R is twenty-first on the grid. Graham Rahal qualified twenty-second, with Kyffin Simpson and Jacob Abel-R rounding out the field in twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh positions respectively.
