Mercedes-Benz New Gen GLB Debuts Globally, India Launch Expected Soon
German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has revealed its new-generation GLB Luxury SUV. This seven-seater car is available with both ICE and EV powertrain options. The previous-generation GLB was discontinued in India in early 2025. Now, the new generation car is set to make a comeback via CBU.
Mercedes-Benz GLB Global Debut
Mercedes has developed the new‑generation GLB on its MMA platform, the same architecture used for the CLA series. It was designed with multiple powertrain options in mind. So, the SUV will be offered globally with two electric variants and a mild‑hybrid setup. In India, the previous-gen GLB was sold with petrol and diesel engines; the new model is expected to arrive first with a 48‑volt mild‑hybrid petrol powertrain.

Design
The GLB adopts the brand's new design language, similar to the new CLA. The front features connected DRLs with three-pointed stars LED twin projector headlamps. The nose is now taller and gets a larger grille that makes it more commanding, while the ICE version additionally features tiny chrome stars. The GLB also gets a thick D‑pillar with wraparound glass. At the rear, the SUV sports inverted connected tail lamps with star‑shaped LED signatures.
Interior
On the inside, it borrows the cabin design from the CLA, featuring a premium dual‑tone dashboard and three seamlessly integrated MBUX touch screens that handle most of the vehicle functions.
The GLB also offers steering‑mounted controls, a panoramic sunroof with illumination, and a premium Burmester 3D surround system with 16 speakers. And for safety, it receives Guard 360 protection suite, making the GLB's interior both luxurious and technologically more sound.

Hybrid Powertrain
The new Mercedes GLB will also be offered with a 48‑volt mild‑hybrid petrol setup, featuring a 1.5‑litre four‑cylinder engine paired with an 8‑speed DCT gearbox. Mercedes plans to reveal the complete specifications after the EV variant's launch. This hybrid option is expected to deliver improved efficiency and smoother performance, making it a practical choice for markets like India.
EV Powertrain
The new Mercedes GLB EV is expected to feature an 85kWh battery pack, offering up to 631 km of range. The Standard 2WD variant delivers 272 hp and 335 Nm of torque. The AWD variant, GLB 350 4Matic, raises the power levels to 353 hp and 515 Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, with an impressive 614 km range.
