Mercedes G 580 With EQ Technology Launched At Rs 3 Crore - 473km Range
German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz has launched the G 580 with EQ technology in India at Rs 3 Crore (ex-showroom) for the limited-run Edition One variant. The new G 580 with EQ technology is the production version of the EQG concept unveiled in 2021.
Powering the Mercedes G 580 with EQ technology is a 116kWh battery pack first seen on the EQS. This battery pack, which is integrated into the ladder-frame chassis allows the G 580 a range of 473km on a single charge (WLTP). The electric Glaendawagen can recharge its battery pack from 10-80% in 32 minutes when connected to a 200kW DC charger.
The electric battery pack of the Mercedes G 580 is connected to 4 electric motors that produce a combined 579bhp and 1,164Nm of torque allowing for a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h.
Mercedes has linked the two motors at the rear to make an electrified solid rear axle for better off-roadability. It can climb 45 degree inclines (even in reverse) and can wade through 850mm of water. The G580 can turn up to 720 degree on the spot with its G-Turn function. It also offers off-road crawling mode and G-Steering.
The India-spec G 580 is offered in Edition One Form which is painted in Exclusive Manufakturer South Sea Blue Magno scheme.
The Edition One G 580 rides on 20-inch wheels and features blue brake callipers. The interiors of the G 580 feature exclusive blue carbon fibre trim along with Black Nappa leather upholstery with blue top stitching.
At the front, the G 580 features a blanked-off front grille a higher bonnet along with new A-pillar covers and wheel arches. At the rear, the G 580 is offered with a small housing for the 11kW on-board charger, though customers can opt for the usual spare wheel.
The Mercedes G 580 With EQ Technology is currently sold out till the end of third quarter of the year annd will make its public debut in India at Auto Expo 2025.
