Mercedes-Benz Recalls 3 Models In India Over Steering Safety Issue
Mercedes-Benz has issued an official recall for three of its models in India, affecting a total of four units manufactured between 2022 and 2025. The recall, announced on September 15, 2025, includes select units of the Mercedes-Benz GLC AMG, C-Class AMG, and the standard GLC SUV.
According to the details released by the company, a single unit each of the standard GLC and C-Class AMG, along with two units of the GLC AMG, have been identified for inspection. The affected GLC was produced on September 19, 2022, while the C-Class AMG was built on September 20, 2023. The two GLC AMG units were manufactured between July 17, 2024, and January 31, 2025. Though the total number of affected vehicles is small, Mercedes-Benz is taking the issue seriously as it pertains to a crucial safety component.

The reason behind the recall lies in a potential issue with the bolting of the steering coupling. In some cases, this bolting may not meet the required specifications, which could cause the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the steering rack to loosen over time. If left unchecked, the defect could eventually result in a loss of steerability, posing a significant safety risk to drivers and passengers.
Mercedes-Benz has stated that it will directly contact the owners of the affected vehicles. The company will carry out necessary inspections and repairs, including part replacements if required, entirely free of cost. This recall highlights the brand's commitment to customer safety and its proactive approach in addressing even the smallest potential faults before they lead to serious incidents.
