Mercedes-Benz Commits $500,000 To Support California Wildfire Relief Efforts With American Red Cross

Mercedes-Benz has pledged $500,000 to aid those affected by the wildfires in Southern California. This donation will be split between the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. The funds aim to provide essential services like shelter, food, and emergency assistance to individuals and families impacted by these devastating fires.

In addition to financial support, Mercedes-Benz is offering payment relief options for customers in disaster-stricken areas. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services (MBFS) is providing up to 60-day payment deferrals and has paused collections activities temporarily. This initiative aims to offer financial flexibility to those leasing or financing vehicles through MBFS during this difficult period.

The company is also leveraging its advanced in-car technology to assist drivers in navigating affected regions safely. Geo-targeted messages have been sent via the Mercedes-Benz App and website, advising drivers on safety measures. Features such as the SOS button for immediate help and air filtration options are highlighted to reduce smoke inhalation risks.

Mercedes-Benz owners can benefit from a free cabin air filter replacement at participating dealerships in affected areas. Customers are encouraged to contact their local dealership for more details on this service. This measure is part of a broader effort by Mercedes-Benz to ensure customer safety and well-being during the crisis.

To further bolster relief efforts, Mercedes-Benz will match employee donations up to $200 per individual. This encourages staff participation in supporting communities hit by the wildfires. With facilities in Long Beach, Fontana, and Sunnyvale, CA, the company collaborates with local teams to assist residents effectively.

Dimitris Psillakis, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, stated: "Our hearts are with all those impacted by the wildfires on the West Coast. As an organization deeply rooted in these communities, we are committed to leveraging our resources and support systems to aid recovery efforts and help residents rebuild."

The American Red Cross expressed gratitude for Mercedes-Benz's support during this challenging time. Anne McKeough, Chief Development Officer at the American Red Cross, said: "The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those impacted by the devastating wildfires in California. We are so grateful for partners like Mercedes-Benz as we work together to provide relief and hope for communities in the wake of this heartbreaking disaster."

Mercedes-Benz remains dedicated to supporting its customers, employees, and broader community amidst these challenges. The company continues monitoring the situation closely while exploring additional ways to offer meaningful assistance.
