Mecum Auctions Returns To Glendale, Arizona With 2,000 Classic Cars And New Adventure Zone For Kids
Mecum Auctions is gearing up for its return to State Farm Stadium from March 18-22, 2025. The event will feature around 2,000 classic and collector cars up for auction. This year, the popular Adventure Zone, first introduced in Kissimmee, Florida, will also be part of the Glendale event. This kid-friendly area offers various activities such as a Power Wheels course and car cutouts.
Last year's Mecum Glendale auction achieved over $54 million in sales with 942 vehicles sold. The highlight was a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe that fetched $1.8 million. The event attracted consignors from 38 U.S. states and bidders from all 50 states and international locations.
The upcoming auction will showcase several private collections, including the Timber Crest Farms Collection of vintage Sterling trucks. This collection spans over a century of heavy hauler history, starting with a 1917 Sterling 2.5 Ton Truck. A notable piece is the 1956 Peterbilt 351 Truck. Ronald Waltenspiel, who spent years restoring these vehicles to their original specifications, offers them at no reserve.
Sterling produced only 12,000 trucks over five decades, making this collection a rare opportunity for enthusiasts. Another highlight is a custom-built 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback designed for SEMA by Bodie Stroud of BS Industries. Known as "The Real Thing," it features a powerful V-8 engine delivering 777.5 HP at 7,000 RPM.
The auction will also feature exotic cars from brands like Ferrari, McLaren, and Maserati. Among them are several Ferraris, including one of only 999 Ferrari 812 Competiziones from 2023 and a specially ordered 2022 Ferrari 812 GTS. A standout is the McLaren 675LT Spider from 2016 in Volcano Red with just 830 miles on it.
The Adventure Zone will debut in Glendale with enhancements like larger Power Wheels for older children to enjoy alongside younger fans. Activities include coloring contests, slot car racing, and painting miniature cars.
