McLaren Motorsport Expands GT Racing Driver Line-Up To Eleven For The Upcoming 2025 Season
McLaren Motorsport has unveiled its refreshed GT racing driver roster for the 2025 season, expanding to include eleven drivers across three categories. This line-up features a mix of emerging talents and seasoned professionals. The team is led by five McLaren Factory Drivers, with Marvin Kirchhöfer and Dean MacDonald among them. Benjamin Goethe, Arthur Rougier, and Simon Gachet also join this elite group.
The McLaren Junior Pro Driver category showcases promising young racers who will receive guidance from Factory Drivers. Ben Dörr, a German karting champion, Adam Smalley, a British sportscar champion, and Joseph Loake, an Autosport BRDC Award winner, are part of this group. These drivers are expected to advance their careers under expert mentorship.
In the McLaren Graduate Driver category, Josh Rattican, Aston Millar, and Tommy Pintos are set to make their mark. Rattican is the reigning European GT4 Series Silver champion. Millar returns after impressing in the 2023 British GT Championship. Pintos steps up after winning the inaugural McLaren Trophy in 2023.
Rob Bell has been promoted to Sporting Director at McLaren Motorsport. He expressed excitement about the new line-up: "This group represents a really strong line up of current and future talent for McLaren Motorsport." Bell highlighted Dean MacDonald's progression within the team and praised Tommy Pintos for his achievements in the McLaren Trophy series.
The introduction of the McLaren Trophy Academy aims to nurture future Factory Drivers by offering coaching to silver-ranked drivers globally. This initiative seeks to identify and develop talent that can progress through McLaren's ranks. Promising drivers like Pintos have already benefited from such opportunities.
Ian James, Director of Motorsport at McLaren Automotive, shared his enthusiasm: "I’m delighted to welcome Arthur, Simon, Adam, Joseph and Tommy to the McLaren family." James emphasised the importance of having a strong roster as they enter the 2025 season with high expectations for success.
Arthur Rougier and Simon Gachet bring impressive credentials to the team. Rougier was crowned French F4 champion in 2017 before transitioning to GT racing. Gachet boasts a victory in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup in 2020 and contributed to Team France's win in the FIA Motorsport Games GT Cup two years later.
Factory Driver Mentorship
The Factory Drivers will mentor Junior Pro and Graduate Drivers as part of their development programs. This mentorship aims to help these young talents transition smoothly into professional racing careers while honing their skills on track.
