McLaren Marks Ten Years Of LT Supercars With Celebrate LT Programme For Owners And Retailers
McLaren Automotive is commemorating a decade since the debut of its first LT model with a special 'Celebrate LT' initiative. This program, running throughout 2025, will engage owners and involve activities at McLaren retailers globally. The celebration highlights the six iconic supercars that began with the 675LT's unveiling at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show.
The McLaren LT series, inspired by the McLaren F1 GTR 'Long Tail' that triumphed in the 1997 Le Mans 24-hour race, represents an evolution in performance for McLaren's road cars. The LT philosophy emphasizes driver engagement, track-focused dynamics, reduced weight, optimized aerodynamics, and increased power. These elements are encapsulated in limited-production vehicles.
The first LT model, the 675LT, was introduced as a limited-volume coupe based on the McLaren 650S. It quickly established itself as a benchmark for modern-day McLaren performance. Following this were five more models: the 600LT and 765LT, each available in both coupe and convertible Spider forms. The latest addition was the 765LT Spider in 2021.
Each LT model is recognized for its exceptional performance and pure expression of supercar excellence rooted in McLaren's racing heritage. Their limited availability enhances their desirability among enthusiasts. The 'Celebrate LT' initiative aims to bring together this community through exclusive content and events hosted by McLaren retailers worldwide.
Throughout 2025, McLaren will host various activities such as open days, meet-ups, and exclusive drive events for owners and fans alike. These events will mark ten years since the inception of the LT series and celebrate the six iconic cars bearing the LT badge.
Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer at McLaren Automotive, stated: "For a decade, LT has embodied the pure, uncompromising performance that defines the very essence of McLaren. Relentlessly focused on delivering true driver engagement, every LT pushes the boundaries of weight reduction, aerodynamics, and power."
A Decade of Innovation
The journey began with the introduction of the 675LT at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2015. Limited to just 500 units, it delivered unmatched driver engagement and performance compared to other series-production models from McLaren. Over half of its components were modified to enhance power output significantly.
The subsequent models continued this legacy with innovations like top-exit exhaust systems and advanced aerodynamic packages. For instance, the 600LT featured a wild top-exit exhaust system that was lighter than conventional systems used on previous models.
Pushing Engineering Boundaries
The most recent additions to the LT lineup are the 765LT and its Spider variant. Based on the award-winning McLaren 720S platform, these models represent peak engineering achievements within their category. Engineers pursued lightweight design principles down to minute details like thinner glass and titanium wheel nuts.
The result was an impressive weight reduction over previous models while maintaining blistering speed capabilities coupled with audacious aerodynamic designs—qualities that have earned these cars numerous accolades worldwide.
McLaren's Commitment to Excellence
McLaren Automotive continues pushing boundaries by partnering with leading companies across various fields such as Ashurst or Bowers & Wilkins among others who share similar values regarding innovation excellence within their respective industries.
This commitment extends beyond just producing high-performance vehicles but also fostering communities around them through initiatives like 'Celebrate LT,' which brings together passionate advocates under one banner celebrating shared enthusiasm for cutting-edge automotive technology combined seamlessly into everyday driving experiences without compromise on quality or style whatsoever!
